Dialogue[]

UI Quest Quest Description

Lan has been looking for a certain sword. Her search has not been fruitful, so she's decided to widen her search range.

Stonewall Mitachurls Version[]

(Talk to Lan)
Lan: I hope it turns up this time... there are so few leads left...
Icon Dialogue Talk What's wrong?
Lan: What brings you here? If you'd like to learn more about the Guild, please talk to Katheryne over there.
Lan: ...Oh, you're an Adventurer already? Please accept my apologies; I may be the Branch Master, but I am not well acquainted with the Guild's day-to-day business.
Lan: So I don't really know any of the newcomers... Having said that, you're no newcomer at all, are you? You look like a seasoned Adventurer to me.
Lan: In which case, maybe there's something you can help me with. I must emphasize though, this is not a guild quest but a personal commission.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll take it!
Lan: I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it is highly unwise to accept a Commission without examining the details first.
Icon Dialogue Talk Give me more details, and I'll consider it.
Lan: A cautious response. I'm sure you learned the value of caution the hard way.
Lan: Your Commission, should you choose to accept it, is to defeat two strong hilichurls who bear giant shields.
Lan: Their shields are infused with Geo energy. Not terribly dangerous, but you should still proceed carefully.
Lan: All I need you to do is defeat them. Come and find me afterwards and you will be fairly compensated.
Lan: Oh, and if you come across anything sword-related, bring it back for me.
Lan: If not, it doesn't matter. As long as you defeat the hilichurls you will receive your compensation. That's all. I will leave you to get ready now.
(Talk to Lan again, optional)
Lan: Have you defeated them yet?
Icon Dialogue Talk Not yet.
Lan: That's fine; please don't rush. An Adventurer who acts in haste is sure to put themselves in harm's way.
Lan: That said... Think less haste, more speed. Because your compensation is based on how quickly you complete the assignment.

(Talk to Lan after defeating the enemies)
Lan: Have you defeated them yet?
Icon Dialogue Talk Yes.
Lan: Efficient work! I'm impressed. Done like a true Adventurer.
Lan: Here is your compensation. Thanks to you, things will be much safer around here.
Lan: I don't suppose you found anything to do with a sword?
Lan: ...I see. As I expected. Never mind.
Lan: Thank you — here is your compensation. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hilichurl Archers Version[]

(Talk to Lan)
Lan: *sigh* Still nothing...
Icon Dialogue Talk What's wrong?
Lan: Oh, it's you two again. Clearly there aren't enough guild quests to keep you occupied.
Lan: If you are interested, I have another Commission you could take?
Lan: A group of Hilichurl Shooters has congregated in the middle of Guili Plains and are threatening passers-by.
Lan: They may only be hilichurls, but there are a lot of them and they have the higher ground. The average Adventurer would be helpless against them.
Lan: I need you to dispose of them, quickly and efficiently. Afterwards, there will be ample compensation waiting for you.
Lan: Also — if you come across anything to do with a sword, anything at all, please bring it back to me.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll take it.
Lan: I can't tell whether your eagerness to take this on is born out of youthful naivety or boundless courage...
Lan: But if I'm sure about one thing, it's that you truly have an Adventurer's spirit.
Icon Dialogue Talk What does the sword mean to those hilichurls?
Lan: Nothing, the two are unrelated. All I need you to do is keep an eye out for it — if you find something, bring it back. If not, it's no problem.
Lan: The objective of this Commission is to defeat the hilichurls. Defeat them, and you will get your reward.
Lan: That's all I have to say. It's time for you to get ready.
(Talk to Lan again, optional)
Lan: Have you defeated the Hilichurl Shooters yet?
Icon Dialogue Talk Not yet.
Lan: Is that because you're preparing meticulously, or because you're dragging your heels?
Lan: ...Or is it a little from column A, a little from column B?

(Talk to Lan after defeating the enemies)
Lan: Have you defeated the Hilichurl Shooters yet?
Icon Dialogue Talk Yes.
Lan: Good job. I hope they didn't give you too much trouble? No, I didn't think they would... just asking to be polite.
Lan: Still nothing on the sword? *sigh* Surprise, surprise... a futile search once again...
Lan: Thank you, anyway. Here is your compensation.
Icon Dialogue Talk Why are you preoccupied with this sword?
Lan: ...I suppose there's no harm in telling you. Its name is Unseen Razor. My older brother was its proud owner.
Lan: But inexplicably, it was not found on his person when he passed away.
Lan: He always had that sword with him. Always. So for something to happen that separated him from it... It's bothered me ever since.
Lan: Unfortunately, I've never found a single solid lead on where the sword might be, or what he encountered before he died.
Lan: That's it, really. There's nothing more to say. Except have a nice day.

Ruin Hunter Version[]

(Talk to Lan)
Lan: Useless... Utterly useless.
Icon Dialogue Talk What's wrong?
Lan: ...You really don't have anything to do, do you? Either you're too good at what you do, or hopelessly inadequate...
Lan: I doubt it's the latter though — you've been doing a fine job with my Commissions so far.
Lan: If you're at a loose end, there is something else you could do for me.
Lan: But this time things are more dangerous. I need you to defeat a Ruin Hunter. Think you can handle it?
Icon Dialogue Talk Consider it done.
Lan: My, you are self-assured. My brother was the same way... Perhaps you will one day achieve the heights of greatness that he did.
Icon Dialogue Talk Should I keep an eye out for a sword?
Lan: Yes please. When you've defeated the Ruin Hunter, please check around for a sword or any sword-related items.
Lan: I must warn you that Ruin Hunters are tough opponents. You must keep your attention fixed on them at all times if you wish to defeat them.
Lan: As for the sword — it would be wonderful if you found something, but not to worry if you don't. You will be paid as long as you defeat the Ruin Hunter.
Lan: That's all. The location is in Guili Plains. Get yourself ready, then go and take down that Ruin Hunter.
Lan: Once you've taken him down, remember to look around for sword-related items; anything you find, bring it back.
Lan: ...But if there's nothing, just bring yourself.
Lan: Good luck with the Commission, and... I hope this time the search will prove more fruitful.
(Talk to Lan again, optional)
Lan: Has the Ruin Hunter been dealt with?
Icon Dialogue Talk Not yet.
Lan: Well, take your time. One must be fully prepared before taking on a Ruin Hunter.

(Talk to Lan after defeating the enemies)
Lan: Has the Ruin Hunter been dealt with?
Icon Dialogue Talk Yes.
Lan: Ruin Hunters are all in a day's work for you, eh... If I ever had any doubt in your capabilities, it is now gone.
Lan: ...Still nothing on the sword? *sigh* I'm beginning to loathe the sound of my voice asking that question.
Lan: Not to worry. I've thrown a mixed bag of Commissions at you, and each time you complete them dutifully. So thank you for that.
Lan: Unseen Razor, where are you hiding...
Icon Dialogue Talk You'll find it eventually.
Lan: ...Are you trying to make me feel better? Thanks, but this is barely a minor setback.
Lan: No matter how long it takes, and where this search takes me... I will find that sword.
Lan: I plan to keep widening the search area, so I may well call for your help again in the future — and yes, I will continue to pay for your services.
Icon Dialogue Talk These Commissions don't seem sword-related at all.
Lan: That is because I already took on every single Commission that had anything at all to do with a sword. Sadly, they led me nowhere.
Lan: So then I thought... Surely, whatever happened to separate my brother from his sword, it can only have been under highly dangerous circumstances.
Lan: So I started accepting other Commissions — ones I thought just might be dangerous enough to give me a lead on the whereabouts of Unseen Razor.
Lan: However, there are slightly too many dangerous Commissions for me to handle on my own. That is why I started asking you to help.
Lan: Here is your payment. I should go, there is a new list of Commissions waiting for me to vet.
Lan: Unseen Razor... You won't stay unseen forever...

Follow-Up Version[]

(Talk to Lan)
Lan: I have an idea that may or may not pay dividends...
Icon Dialogue Talk Are you still looking for that sword of yours?
Lan: Oh, it's you, Traveler. Indeed, I am still seeking the Unseen Razor.
Lan: But, even now, I have yet to find any worthwhile leads.
Lan: Searching for a sword in Liyue is like trying to find a straw from a haystack.
Lan: Someone said to me that the sword may have been destroyed long ago by a monster. But even if it were so, I would find and claim each and every last shard.
Lan: Apologies. I've been rambling. The location I need you to check this time has been marked on your map. I thank you for your aid, Traveler.
Lan: I just hope the sword isn't really broken...
(Talk to Lan again, optional)
Lan: I just hope the sword isn't really broken...
(Approach the area)
Paimon: There sure are a lot of weapon-like implements scattered around here.
Paimon: Let's deal with these monsters first before taking a closer look around.
Paimon: Paimon sure hopes we can find something related to "swords"...
(After defeating the enemies)
Paimon: That should do it. Let's have a quick look around. Hopefully, we'll be able to find something that points to the sword...
(Icon Dialogue Investigate Investigate first spear-like object)
Paimon: Huh. This...doesn't seem to have anything to do with the sword...
(Icon Dialogue Investigate Investigate second spear-like object)
Paimon: This doesn't look like it has anything to do with swords...
Paimon: Huh? Is this a... hilt? It's pretty intact, too...
Paimon: Let's bring it back to Lan and let her have a look.
(Obtain Hilt-Like Object Hilt-Like Object ×1)
(Talk to Lan)
Lan: How did it go, Traveler? Have you found something?
Icon Dialogue Quest I found this sword hilt...
(Submit Hilt-Like Object Hilt-Like Object ×1)
Lan: This sword hilt... looks still intact.
Icon Dialogue Talk Does it have anything to do with the Unseen Razor?
Lan: I must examine it in detail to know... Ah. I forgot to mention that I've already been scouring the lands for these weapon fragments for quite some time.
Lan: I gathered countless pieces from the marketplace, the wilds, and even bought some off adventurers. I thought that they could perhaps lead me to the Unseen Razor...
Lan: Yet, till now, I haven't found even a hint of its shadow...
Lan: Ah, no matter. We have a saying in Liyue: "Where there's a will, there's a way." I'll keep searching... Till I find the Unseen Razor, that is.
Lan: Here, Traveler. Take these as a reward for your efforts.

The Chasm Version[]

Commission Where is the Unseen Razor The Chasm
UI Quest Quest Description

Lan seems to have changed her mind about seeking the Unseen Razor.
(Talk to Lan)
Lan: Hmph, looks like it should be here.
(If The Chasm version has not been completed before)
Icon Dialogue Talk Lan?
Icon Dialogue Talk What are you doing here?
Lan: Traveler. I didn't expect to see you here.
Lan: Do you remember the sword hilt you found last time? Well, it turns out that it was indeed part of the Unseen Razor.
Lan: The funny thing is, the only reason I could recognize it is because I secretly etched a marking onto it as a child...
Lan: I remember I told my brother that if he ever decided to wield another sword, he had to give the Unseen Razor to me.
Lan: Heh. I suppose neither one of us could have foreseen how things turned out... I can't believe this is how I ended up finding the Unseen Razor. Looks like the sword... really did get shattered.
Lan: Alright. I suppose I'll cut to the chase now that you're here, Traveler. I'm going to need your help again.
Lan: Two gatherings of monsters should be loitering somewhere ahead. They seem to have amassed a sizable inventory of damaged weapons to hoard within their camps, though I'm uncertain as to why.
Lan: The Adventurers' Guild is worried that these monsters will wreak havoc on the surroundings and originally wanted to draft a commission to resolve this. However, after I reviewed the details, I thought that perhaps... I could find some pieces of the Unseen Razor here.
Lan: Traveler, let's each clear out a camp.
(If The Chasm version has been completed before)
Icon Dialogue Talk Lan?
Icon Dialogue Talk Are you still looking for sword fragments?
Lan: Traveler? Fancy running into you here again.
Lan: Yeah, I managed to get a few new fragments through some more... appropriate commissions.
Lan: The situation is the same as it was previously. I'd like to invite you to head out with me and defeat some monsters.
Lan: The camp to the left is being held by a group of hilichurls. Alone, each of them should present no danger to you...
Lan: But their numbers are substantial. Should you face them directly and all at once, it might require some effort to prevail, even for you.
Lan: On the right is a Stonehide Lawachurl. As for how dangerous facing one is... I don't think I really need to elaborate.
Lan: Since I'm the one who asked for your aid, I'll let you select which camp to clear.
Lan: The camp to the left is being held by a group of hilichurls. Alone, each of them should present no danger to you...
Lan: But their numbers are substantial. Should you face them directly and all at once, it might require some effort to prevail, even for you.

Lan: Since I'm the one who asked for your aid, I'll let you select which camp to clear.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll take the left side.
Icon Dialogue Talk I'll take care of the camp on the right.
Lan: Understood. I'll go for the other one. Let's make this quick.
(Talk to Lan again, optional)
Lan: How goes it? You've cleared the monsters on your end?
Icon Dialogue Talk You've already... defeated all the monsters in the area?
Lan: Hmm? Of course.
Lan: I mean, I am the president of the Liyue Adventurers' Guild. Dealing with monsters is pretty typical for me.

(After defeating the enemies)
(If the player chose the right side)
Paimon: Well, that's all the monsters dealt with... Huh? What's this?
Paimon: It looks like a piece of... some kind of weapon?
Paimon: Let's bring it back and let Lan have a look at it.
(Obtain Random Weapon Shards Random Weapon Shards ×1)
(Talk to Lan)
Lan: Traveler, have you already wiped out the monsters in that camp?
(If the player chose the left side)
Icon Dialogue Talk All done.
Icon Dialogue Talk How's it going on your end?
Lan: Just some ordinary monsters. It didn't take too much out of me. I also got lucky and found a valuable piece from a longsword.
Icon Dialogue Talk I haven't found anything on my side...
Lan: Don't worry about it. You helped me rule out a misidentified location, so thanks.
Lan: Here, you've earned this.
(If the player chose the right side)
Icon Dialogue Talk All done.
Icon Dialogue Talk How's it going on your end?
Lan: Just some ordinary monsters. It didn't take too much out of me. Shame that I didn't find anything of value. It's just scrap here.
Lan: How'd it go on your end? Did you find anything?
Icon Dialogue Talk I found this.
Lan: Huh... That looks like a piece of a sword... Thanks. I'll bring it back with me and examine it more closely.
Lan: Thanks, Traveler. Here's your payment. Please accept it.
Icon Dialogue Talk If we find all the shards...
Icon Dialogue Talk What will you do with them?
Lan: My desire is a simple one... I just want to reforge the Unseen Razor.
Lan: Though the blueprints detailing how the Unseen Razor was made and what materials were used have been lost... I'll find a way.
Lan: If I can reforge the Unseen Razor, then my brother will also... *sigh*

Trivia[]

  • The line "[y]our Commission, should you choose to accept it..." from the Stonewall Mitachurls Version of this commission is a reference to Mission Impossible. Protagonists would receive instructions which would often include the line "your mission should you choose to accept it..." from a recorded message for a mission.
