Part I - The Orioles Bask in Spring, the Heavens Present Auspices[]
- The Orioles Bask in Spring, the Heavens Present Auspices
The Traveler and Paimon realize that another year has passed since the last Lantern Rite and thus head back to the harbor to partake in the festival. When they arrive, they find Keqing and Charlotte by the docks, who tell them that the theme for Lantern Rite is kites. As Liyue is now ruled by humans, Keqing tells them that to keep up with the changing trends, Ningguang reached out to Charlotte and thus the kites being prepared would use Liyue's traditional kite-making techniques with Fontaine's "Mechanical Vertical Lifting Device," which is a popular hit. Charlotte is excited to have a new story to write about, during which the Traveler notices two suspicious looking people watching them. Keqing tells the Traveler that the Qixing are hosting a contest, of which the winner would get a special prize before leaving with Charlotte.
The Traveler informs Paimon of the two suspicious people and they approach them. Easily recognizing the Traveler, the two reveal themselves as Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver, taking on the names Houzhang and Jiehu. Paimon does not buy their story and believes they're impersonating the adepti, as they had never been one for city life. Mountain Shaper recalls an event from the past that involved the Traveler, thus making Paimon feel guilty of accusing them. The two reveal that they had come to the city looking for Cloud Retainer, as following her departure from the mountains to live in Liyue Harbor, Jueyun Karst has been unusually quiet. She had also failed to inform them about the year's festivities, thus they were worried about her. Upon hearing a mechanical kite, they believed she was just too busy working and depart, but not before telling the Traveler to send their regards to her.
Paimon then decides to check the kite stalls, which impresses her with the stock they have available. As Zhenyuan talks with her, Longzhou arrives and asks her about her stock to be sent to Yilong Wharf. Paimon is interested to see what the wharf looks like during the festival, so Longzhou informs them that they're welcome to join Gaming. They find and inform him of the shipment, which he takes. He is also pleased to meet the Traveler, since they're well known in Liyue.
As they take the shipment to Yilong Wharf, they make their way to Qiaoying Village and are ambushed by Treasure Hoarders, which they drive off. Gaming explains to them the purpose of people like him, who were there to protect the goods from malicious intent. Once they arrive at the village, they take a boat ride to the wharf and arrive at the small town. Gaming asks the Traveler to help him sneak around to the Secure Transport Agency, as he does not want to get seen by his family. Once they arrive at the agency, Gaming prepares the agency's famed Sunglo Tea and unloads the goods. Paimon remarks on how kind and welcoming, of which Zhigui informs him that everyone in the wharf enjoys his presence, though he wishes that he could reconcile with his family. As Gaming finishes his work, he asks the Traveler to meet him at Xinyue Kiosk in two days. As they leave, Paimon realizes they haven't checked the kites in town yet.
While walking around the wharf, they soon run into Cloud Retainer. Paimon tells her that Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver sends their regards to her, causing her to pause in thought. She realizes that she had completely forgotten about them and decides that the best way to apologize for her slight is to bring them tea, causing her to run off. The Traveler and Paimon follow her, finding her browsing Fenglian's wares. She initially takes two, Fenglian's words end up making her buy ten. She also buys a toy from Charbonnier to study it later. Xianyun later learns that the Traveler was going to participate in the contest held by the Qixing, revealing that she was hosting a workshop of her own, with Shuyu, Shenhe, Ganyu and Yaoyao attending. The Traveler agrees to attend, so she tells them to meet her at Mt. Aocang in the next two days. Paimon then asks her about hiring a guard to protect her merchandise, though she states that she has no need to as it begins floating and following her, much to Paimon's shock.
Part II - A Cloud-Sea Appeal, a Brilliance Revealed[]
- A Cloud-Sea Appeal, a Brilliance Revealed
Two days later, the Traveler meets up with Gaming at Xinyue Kiosk, where Gaming orders a large amount of dim sum for the three to enjoy. Gaming tells them that he normally doesn't eat lunch after having dim sum, while Paimon is surprised that he's rich enough to order lots of food. She compares him to Xingqiu, believing both come from rich families. Upon hearing this, Gaming becomes more solemn, explaining that he isn't rich at all - his father is the owner of a simple tea business that could not compete against the Feiyun Commerce Guild, and he did not want to follow in his footsteps. Paimon then asks what his dream was, and Gaming tells her that he wants to be a Wushou dancer. Despite the hurdles he's facing, Gaming is determined to see his dream become true. As his father believes otherwise, they were nearly close to a fistfight, and ever since then, he has not returned home, instead working as a guard to make ends meet for now.
As they finish up the dim sum, Gaming offers to find something to do for the afternoon, prompting Paimon to tell him that they were going to Mt. Aocang for Xianyun's kite-making workshop. Gaming is aware Xianyun is Cloud Retainer and becomes surprised to hear that the luminescent dyes she ordered were for kite-making. He agrees to go with them, as he has to reformulate the dyes.
When they arrive at Mt. Aocang, they find Xianyun's disciples. Ganyu, having been handling overtime, quickly falls asleep, prompting Shenhe to forcefully wake her up by applying a minty-smelling liquid on her horns. Xianyun then arrives with the materials and starts up the session, placing the group in pairs of their choosing. After making their own kite, a mechanical kite suddenly intrudes the peace of Mt. Aocang. Xianyun, angered by the intrusion, reverts to her illuminated form and heads out to find where the source came from. The Traveler and Paimon follow after her per Ganyu's request. The culprits are soon revealed to be Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver, and they fail to convince Xianyun that they were simply passing around. They do not reveal their identity to her out of fear, only for Paimon to blurt out their true identities. Xianyun is not upset at the pair, as she wanted to see how far they would go to cover up their act. The two admit to her that they were in a festive spirit and bought a kite, as they could never make one like she could.
Returning to Mt. Aocang, the Traveler and Paimon are surprised to find most of the others gone. Ganyu reveals that Gaming offered to take Shuyu and Yaoyao back to the city after the girls tired themselves out from playing, while Shenhe tells them that she heard Gaming remark about kites and the ground, noting that he was also dejected when he said it. Xianyun then arrives and has her disciples follow her into her adobe to help prepare for a meal, while the Traveler waits outside. Ganyu and Shenhe come out with new outfits, which Xianyun had commissioned from a tailor in Liyue Harbor. As they share a meal, the Traveler and Paimon talk about Gaming's problems, which Xianyun was not aware of. Once she learns of the entire ordeal between him and his father, she resolves to help him, not wanting the problem to linger especially during Lantern Rite, and starts formulating a plan.
Part III - The Glede Returns to the Pavilion[]
- The Glede Returns to the Pavilion
A few days later, the Traveler and Paimon prepare to enact Xianyun's plan to help Gaming and his father reconcile. Catching up with him in Liyue Harbor, they have a short chat before Longzhou informs him that they have a commission to escort a tea merchant and his wares for an "important client" in the city. As they set off, they soon discover that the merchant they're escorting is actually Gaming's father, Yip Tak. Due to the strained relationship, Gaming only asks Tak if everything is set and good to go. They head to Wangshu Inn and take a short moment of respite as Gaming stands guard. Suddenly, two bandits, Houzhang and Jiehu, ambush them and demand the goods. Gaming tells the Traveler to take his father and the goods away, much to Tak's worry as the two "bandits" flee. Tak is worried about his son's safety, not wanting him to be put in a dangerous situation as Cloud Retainer observes, seeing everything is going according to plan.
Making their way further down, they soon run into Zhongli, much to Paimon's surprise as he wasn't part of the plan. Tak urges Zhongli to run as bandits are running around in broad daylight, much to his surprise, but Paimon begins coughing in an inconspicuous attempt to inform him of Cloud Retainer's plan. They stop by a tea stall and Paimon explains that Tak is worried about his son, who is also the guard escorting him. Zhongli, having heard of Gaming, tells Tak that he's very skillful and encapsulates the spirit of the suanni, despite such dancers having their own hardships hidden away from the viewers. He states that his perseverance in the face of adversity is admirable and that he should be proud of his son, as he had also heard from his associates that Gaming is also kind, selfless and courageous. Tak concedes that his son is a hard worker, but states his worries over his current occupation, as he fears that he would not be able to work as he grew older and was going to dangerous places, regretting showing him a wushou dance when he was younger. Zhongli informs him about a friend of his who has several "daughters" of her own, allowing them to let them forge their own path, likening it to a kite in that holding them too tight would prevent them from growing themselves.
Gaming returns, having immediately suspected that the two "bandits" were actually sent by them as he discovered that their mannerisms and skill were far too unusual and were meant to distract him. Paimon insists that he try to talk with his father, and he reluctantly decides to do so, believing that it would be the same as their other conversations. Zhongli takes his leave and asks the Traveler and Paimon to see him off.
A fair distance away, Paimon thanks Zhongli for picking up on the situation before asking him why they were further away than usual. He simply states that a friend was coming, soon revealed to be Xiao. As Xiao was relaxing, he saw a ghostly kite in the sky and believed that Hu Tao was strolling around, only to be surprised when he saw that it was Zhongli instead. Zhongli was helping Hu Tao test the new and traditional kites, along with fetching some ingredients for her. He asks him to help out with the kites, and after some testing, Xiao informs him that the mechanical kite was superior in speed. Xiao is impartial to the contest, though he admits that the kites give him a certain peace of mind. He then tells the Traveler to meet him at Pervases' Temple if they have the chance after the Lantern Rite as the group separates.
Back at the tea stall, Gaming and Tak try to start a conversation, though before he could go further in his decision to stay in the harbor, Xianyun and Shenhe arrive and sit down on another table. Shenhe intentionally embarrasses herself with awkward talk in order for them to continue their conversation. Tak tells Gaming that he doesn't support the idea of him living in the harbor because he feels that living there could be too hard for him, whereas at home his family would be willing to help him. Gaming notes that his father would have never told him this before they resume their trip to the harbor.
Finally arriving at the harbor, the group meets up with Charlotte, the "important client" that Longzhou had mentioned. Charlotte states that Fontanians are also big tea drinkers and that she would like to interview him about his wares, something which he had not anticipated but agrees to. Gaming is impressed by the Traveler's connections before Xianyun calls them over, causing him to realize that everything was an act but is impressed by how Xianyun was looking out for him. As she states the next step would begin, Gaming is worried that they were going to buy the tea from his father as they had pooled their Mora to buy it, but Paimon tells him that Charlotte would bring it back to Fontaine, which coupled with her article would result in new business and customers from abroad for the tea. Gaming then tells them that he has a plan of his own, so they split up to start it.
Vibrant Harriers Aloft in Spring Breeze Cutscene Animation- "Kites in the Wind" - Genshin Impact
The Traveler and Paimon head back to Zhenyuan's stall to buy a Mechanical Vertical Lifting Device to install on their kite, but she insists on giving them one free of charge; their speedy assistance in delivering the kite materials allowed her daughter and mother to enjoy kite building together that same day. As the Lantern Rite starts, some of the lanterns suddenly begin to darken, but it is revealed to be a wushou performance by Gaming, who impresses the crowd with his skills and receives a round of applause from them. The audience then sets their kites out in the wind, but they soon begin to fall from a lack of current. Xianyun then uses her adepti powers to send out her own kite and catch all the other kites in its wake, making all the kites soar even higher. As Gaming returns to the pier, he finds his father and Shuyu with the suanni kite. Tak asks him if he's serious about becoming a professional wushou dancer, which he confirms. Having seen his performance and perseverance, Tak has finally changed his mind, addresses him and son and states that he is a great kid. Gaming is touched by his father's change of heart and hugs him in response before he notices the Traveler and Paimon. The Traveler asks Gaming what he would like to do, and he decides that he should thank everyone who helped him, get together and fly a kite.
Part IV - Hustle and Bustle[]
With Lantern Rite over, the Traveler and Paimon decide to head to Qiaoying Village to hopefully run into Hu Tao. When they arrive at the village, they are distracted by shouts coming from a nearby mountain and investigate, discovering Navia and Clorinde, the former responsible for all the shouting. Navia tells them that she was shouting from the mountain as others did so and did not want to disturb the locals, who were used to it. She also informs them that Furina had also come on her own and thus why they were at the mountain, as she too was shouting from it but become embarrassed when discovered. Clorinde also tells them that even Neuvillette came, though he left after half a day. Clorinde had only come to accompany Navia and buy some tea for Wriothesley as she had lost a bet with him. Navia then reminds them that they weren't likely looking for them, thus they head down to the village to look for Hu Tao.
The Traveler and Paimon have a bet to see what Hu Tao and Zhongli were doing in the village and approach the three. Furina and Hu Tao are surprised to see the Traveler, where Hu Tao declares Furina one of her "esteemed" clients. Furina reveals that Hu Tao was helping her with some props for her next film, wanting to put a breath of fresh air in the film industry with horror stories from Liyue; running into Hu Tao and Zhongli were coincidence. Hu Tao states that it's thanks to a man who asked for directions. She is surprised to hear of his personality from the Traveler, though she remarks that he and Zhongli would have gotten along. Zhongli did not meet him, thus making the Traveler wonder if he was actively avoiding Neuvillette given their positions.
Furina then asks the Traveler to remind Neuvillette to take more time off work as Navia and Clorinde join in on the conversation. As night falls, the Fontanians decide to head back home. Clorinde asks Furina if she would like to be escorted back, which she initially declines, but is prompted to after being scared by Hu Tao. After asking where were the items they bought, Clorinde reveals that Neuvillette had taken everything with him on his way back to Fontaine.
Heading into Fontaine, the Traveler and Paimon find Neuvillette standing behind the Opera Epiclese. Upon returning, Neuvillette gives the tea Clorinde owed to Wriothesley. Wriothesley notice the abundance of tea and makes a comment on its excess, which prompts Neuvillette to reveal that much of it was due to him discovering a sale and gives Wriothesley 80 percent his purchased tea. Neuvillette also hands him a stone slate engraved with the law as part of a joke about gifting him a legal codex as part of his attempt to join in on the banter. Wriothesley takes the items back down to the prison, while back in the present, Neuvillette enjoyed his trip to Qiaoying Village, particularly having had a sample of its waters directly at the source. He also gifts the Traveler what they interpret as a "ladle" as the Traveler passes Furina's advice to relax more, which he takes into consideration.
