The Golden Shadow is a story domain for the Archon Quest Chapter 1, Act 3 quest "Heart of Glaze."

This domain engages in a battle against the Harbinger Childe. After completing Act 3, the Trounce Domain Enter the Golden House is unlocked, allowing you to relive this battle.

Attacks and Abilities

Note: All attack and ability names are unofficial.

Phase 1: Hydro Vision

Enemy Childe P1 Icon.png

Childe
Eleventh of the Fatui Harbingers
Combined Stance (Bow & Twin Daggers)

Riptide (Hydro): Any kind of connecting attack will visibly mark the player with Riptide.

  • Riptide will result in additional AoE Hydro DMG effects when attacked by Tartaglia.
  • The mark can be purged by touching the arena's barrier, resulting in a slight Vaporize reaction.

Hydro Shield: Creates a Hydro shield to block damage up to a certain extent.

  • It sometimes acts like a counter. Tartaglia will follow up with a quick slash if the player prolongs attacks on the shield.

Hydro Counter: Shoots out a huge Hydro energy blast in front of him, dealing very high damage towards the player.

  • This triggers if Childe gets hit by any Hydro attacks while his Hydro Shield is up.

Solo (Hydro): Performs one charged slash attack forward.

Blast (Hydro): Unleashes energy deep within, creating a domain of Hydro energy and dealing moderate amount of Hydro DMG around him.

  • This also triggers from being attacked while being staggered too many times.

Havoc: Performs a spinning slash, dealing Hydro DMG around him.

Cutting Torrent: Performs up to 6 consecutive shots with a bow and marks the player with Riptide once hit.

  • This move acts as a Normal Attack in which he becomes vulnerable at the end of his Normal Attack.

Tidebringer (Riptide): Perform up to 6 consecutive shots with a bow upwards. Each falling arrow deal AoE Hydro DMG.

Shark Onslaught: Perform up to 6 consecutive shark-formed waves with a bow.

  • He ends his attack string between the 2nd and 6th attack string.

Tidal Flow: Slides quickly to any point of the arena, dealing Hydro DMG in its wake.

  • This move is performed when the player is too far away.

Ultima: God Arrow: Charges for a while, then unleashes 4 arrows that fall from the sky, dealing massive AoE Hydro DMG around him.

  • It is recommended to move either into the center of the 4 arrows or towards the outside of the range of the arrows. These areas are not affected.
  • The 4 arrow zones cover roughly 3/5 of the arena's area.
  • It is quite difficult to attempt to time an invincibility frame dodge, as there are little signs to go off when the attack occurs, especially with dashing (needs confirmation as to whether if it's possible at all to dodge using a dash). It is recommended to get to the unaffected areas as quick as possible rather than to challenge it head on.

Ultima: Celestial Voyager (Riptide): Charges for a while, then unleashes a massive humpback whale-formed attack, dealing massive AoE Hydro DMG.

  • The whale will deal damage upon emerging from the ground in front of Childe, jump forward and come crashing down, dealing damage again on impact.
  • Unlike the other AoE attacks, the emerging water pool does not have strictly defined edges and may hit you even when you assume to be out of range.
  • Likewise, there is no clear warning of the impact area apart from the general direction.
  • Both zones cover roughly 3/5 of the arena's area.
  • This attack cannot be invincibility frame dodged by dashing. However, activating Elemental Bursts on a certain roster of characters will allow a complete nullification of damage from this attack if timed correctly.
  • If the character is lined up in the center when the attack is launched, it will be too late to escape the AoE by dashing unless if performing a special escape mechanism (such as invulnerability during casting Elemental Bursts, a practice sometimes referred to as "i-framing", or Mona's Alternate Sprint).

Phase 2: Electro Delusion

Enemy Childe P2 Icon.png

Childe
Delusion Unleashed
Melee Stance (Twin Daggers & Spear)

Upon transitioning to this phase, Childe will dash to the center of the arena, causing a large Hydro AoE knock-back around him. However, this will not deal any damage, but will only fling your character back.

Riptide (Electro): Any kind of connecting attack will visibly mark the player with Riptide.

  • Riptide will result in additional AoE Electro DMG effects when attacked by Tartaglia.
  • The mark can be purged by touching the arena's barrier, resulting in a slight Overloaded reaction.

Electro Shield: Creates an Electro shield to block damage up to a certain extent.

  • If it takes too many hits, Childe will perform a follow-up counter.

Electro Counter: Shoots out a huge Electro energy blast in front of him, dealing very high damage towards the player.

  • He also has a second counter, which is similar to his First Phase.
  • Triggers if Childe gets hit by any Electro attacks while his Electro Shield is up.

Solo (Electro): Performs one charged slash attack forward.

Blast (Electro): Unleashes energy deep within, creating a domain of Electro energy and dealing moderate amount of Electro DMG around him.

  • This also triggers from being attacked while being staggered too many times.

Twin Strike: Performs 2 consecutive attack forward.

Flicker: Slides quickly to any point of the arena, dealing Electro DMG in its wake, and performs a cross slash at the destination point.

Flicker Combo: Slides quickly to any point of the arena, dealing Electro DMG in its wake, and performs 5 consecutive strike at the destination point (slash, slash, slash, thrust, spinning slash). The fourth attack has further attack range.

Light of Obliteration: Performs a slash with a large AoE, dealing a moderate amount of Electro DMG in a 180° arc towards the player.

Displacement: Childe performs up to 5 consecutive forward Plunge Attacks, dealing Electro DMG in its wake.

  • The best scenario comes from only 2 consecutive attacks. These first two are easy to dodge, and if lucky will be the only needed to dodge. If the third attack occurs and the character decides to invincibility frame dodge by dashing through the AoE damage, the fourth attack will be unavoidable, due to the extremely short delay after the 3rd shot, and the player would be guaranteed to suffer a moderate amount of damage.
  • To successfully dodge the 4 consecutive attacks, the character needs to dodge away from Tartaglia during the first two, and then correctly double invincibility frame dash the third AoE plunge. This will allow the fourth attack to miss but is quite difficult to pull off; however, if landed correctly, it will save a good chunk of the player's health. Alternatively, use Elemental Burst invincibility frames to easily dodge the third and fourth attack.

Ultima: Dark Leap (Riptide): Marks the player with a circle of black lightning. Charges for a while, leaps and instantly strikes at the player current location, dealing massive amount of Electro DMG around the landing point.

  • The attack is quite difficult but possible to "perfect" dodge just before impact. The instant Tartaglia disappears from view, the player should dash into any direction. If timed correctly, there will be no damage. However, due to the difficulty in performing this and the damage received if failed, it is very risky.
  • 5-star characters (as well as Barbara, the only 4-star with such particularity) possess "cutscene" Elemental Burst attacks and can "spend" these if timed correctly to negate the impact with their invulnerability. Note that all Elemental Bursts provide invulnerability, however "cutscene" Elemental Bursts generally provide it for longer.
  • Alternatively, the charging targeting circle can be thrown off by touching the arena's barrier (however be still careful of the impact's area damage while near the target). Note that if the character is far from the barriers when Tartaglia charges his attack, it will be difficult to pull this off in time.

Phase 3: Foul Legacy - The Devouring Deep

Enemy Childe P3 Icon.png

Childe
Combined Stance (Bow, Twin Daggers & Spear)
Hydro and Electro DMG

Upon transitioning to this phase, you will be repositioned to the second arena's edge, with Childe remaining initially non-hostile in the center until approached/engaged. You can use this opportunity to heal/eat/buff/etc. without stress before engaging in the final phase.

Riptide (Hydro and Electro): Any kind of connecting attack will visibly mark the player with Riptide.

  • Riptide will result in additional AoE Electro/Hydro DMG plus Electro-Charged effect when attacked by Tartaglia.
  • The mark can be purged by touching the arena's barrier, resulting in a slight Vaporize/Overload reaction.

Blink: Childe teleports instantly to any point of the arena.

  • Performed if the player is too far away.

Cutting Torrent (Enhanced): Performs up to 4 consecutive charged shots with a bow, marking the player with Riptide once hit and dealing Hydro DMG.

Tidebringer: Performs up to 6 consecutive shots with a bow upwards. Each falling arrow deals AoE Hydro DMG.

Torrential Burst: Releases water torrents in a straight line, dealing Hydro DMG.

Crescent Tide: Performs two flying crescent slash forward, dealing Hydro DMG.

Twin Strike: Performs 2 consecutive attack forward, dealing Electro DMG.

Light of Obliteration: Performs a slash with a large AoE, dealing a moderate amount of Electro DMG in a 180° arc towards the player.

Trinity: Performs 3 consecutive attacks (slash, cross-slash, horizontal slash) ended by throwing a spinning polearm forward, dealing Electro DMG.

Judgement: Summons 4 consecutive thunderbolts at the player's location.

  • This move does not give Riptide mark on the character nor causes knockback.

Displacement (Enhanced): Performs up to 5 consecutive charged forward Plunge Attacks, dealing Electro DMG in its wake.

  • Childe ends attack string between 1st or 5th of his attack string.

Wheel of Destiny (Electro Riptide): Unleashes attack in the form of a wheel, dashing forward and returning to its initial location and dealing Electro DMG.

Ultima: God Arrow (Hydro Riptide): Charges for a while, then unleashes 4 arrows that fall from the sky, dealing massive Hydro DMG in a huge AoE around him.

Ultima: Celestial Voyager (Hydro Riptide): Charges for a while, then unleashes a huge humpback whale-formed Hydro attack with a bow in a huge AoE in front of him, dealing massive Hydro DMG.

Ultima: Dark Leap (Enhanced) (Electro Riptide): Marks the player with a circle of black lightning. Charges for a while, flies high slowly and strikes at the player's current location, dealing massive amount of Electro DMG around the landing point.

  • The attack is quite difficult but possible to "perfect" dodge just before impact. The instant Tartaglia disappears from view, the player should dash into any direction. If timed correctly, there will be no damage. However, due to the difficulty in performing this and the damage received if failed, it is very risky.
  • Characters which possess "cutscene" Elemental Burst attacks can "spend" these if timed correctly to negate the impact with their invulnerability.
  • Alternatively, the charging targeting circle can be thrown off by touching the arena's barrier (however, be still careful of the impact's area damage while near the target). Note that if the character is far from the barriers when Tartaglia charges his attack, it will be difficult to pull this off in time.

Strategy

Tartaglia's attacks in his first two phases are punishing on close-range fighters, giving little space and time to dodge. However, because he has no "instant-wipe" attack for taking too long to defeat him, unlike Stormterror, using ranged characters like Bow or Catalyst users allows you to whittle down his HP from afar. Keep in mind that Bow characters require a great deal of skill to use effectively, or at least a good Artifact set that buffs their overall survivability and damage.

His Phase 2 attack, Ultima: Dark Leap (the jump attack), is difficult to dodge and is usually a near instant-kill for your fielded character. There are three main ways to mitigate damage:

  1. Have at least one character who can generate Shields, like Noelle, Zhongli, Diona or Beidou.
  2. I-frames ("invincibility" periods caused by animations) can be used with characters like Barbara in order to avoid his Ultima attacks. All character's Elemental Bursts have some amount of invincibility frames, so using one with a long animation is both the easiest and most effective way to avoid the attack with this method.
  3. The barrier surrounding the arena in which you fight Childe is imbued with the Pyro element. Going near it with the Riptide effect will cause Riptide to be removed from the player, thereby causing Childe to aim for where you touched the Pyro element, as opposed to aiming for you. (Keep in mind that doing this will cause an elemental reaction with the element that the Riptide is. If you are afflicted with Hydro Riptide, then the barrier will have no negative effects, since it deals no damage and therefore cannot be multiplied by Vaporize. However, if you are afflicted with Electro Riptide, this will trigger Overload, therefore knocking your character down. Keep this in mind to give yourself enough time to get out of the way of Dark Leap.)

Tartaglia's third phase gives the most amount of leeway in time for the player to get up close and to perform attacks. However, it should be noted that it is also the form that generally hits the hardest due to his large arsenal of unique attacks, so be on guard. Tartaglia will mainly use Electro abilities if the player stays close to him all the time; so try to mix time away and near him as required.

Many of the ranged attacks in his first phase can be dodged by going in a circle. Dashing isn't required for many of these if given enough space.

Ultima: Celestial Voyager (his whale attack) hits twice: once when it is summoned, and once when it lands. Both have similar radius, but target different parts of the arena. Stay away from the landing zone to prevent the second part of this skill. Against better logic, running towards Childe while he's summoning the whales allows you to avoid the AoE. This, however, requires very good timing. The most reliable strategy here is to sprint into somewhere near the whale's tail or around the edges of the arena close to Childe, and the attack is guaranteed to miss if done right.

It is recommended to have a healer in your party and/or the NRE (Menu 30) gadget equipped, especially in co-op. If you and the randoms you have paired up with do not have a healer equipped, it is first priority to take initiative and become a healer. If your healers are not decently leveled, then do not take initiative for yourself; prompt someone else to become a healer.

His abilities marks you with a debuff (in this case, a three-eyed symbol - Hydro or Electro, depending on the ability) that enhances his abilities against you. This debuff persists even when you change characters. The edge of the arena applies Pyro to your character and clears this debuff. When Childe is using the ability Ultima: Dark Leap, it is first priority to activate a shield character, activate Burst i-frames or clear the debuff at the edges of the arena and leave immediately, should you have enough time. Avoid getting a Riptide effect on your characters, as Childe will be able to do rush attacks which target individuals in battle.

When you see multiple blue circle AoEs signifying his arrow storm, go to the middle or around the four cardinal edges of the arena.

Many of his attacks can be dodged by simply running. Avoid dashing unnecessarily to conserve stamina for his powerful attacks, such as the Ultima Series and the whale.

If he spawns a whale during his first or second forms, unless you've coordinated very well beforehand with the other people in Co-Op Mode, it's very likely at least one person will die, causing the battle to be significantly harder. Make sure to get him into his next phase as soon as possible before he spawns one.

During his First and Second phase during Co-Op Mode you can cheese Childe by attacking him repeatedly, which will stun-lock him before he can attack. However, attempting this strategy in Tartaglia's third phase is impossible, for he will not be fazed.

Useful Characters:

For main DPS, Pyro and Cryo users like Diluc and Ganyu are effective against both of Childe's elements (Hydro and Electro). Anemo DPS users like Xiao are also useful for dealing consistent damage independent of Childe's element. During Bane of All Evil, Xiao can also jump to avoid many of Childe's attacks.

It is useful to have a healer such as Qiqi and Jean. Barbara can heal from a safe range, but using her Elemental Skill will apply the Wet status, which can result in Electro-Charged reactions if hit by Childe. For Qiqi, as long as you have Childe marked with her passive talent A Glimpse into Arcanum, anyone who hits him will heal, but you will have to re-mark Childe over and over. On the other hand, Jean needs to be close to Childe to heal the team, but in exchange, leaves behind a healing zone as well as able to stagger Childe very easily during the first 2 phases.

  • It is important to note that Qiqi is only useful if you have her at Ascension Phase 4; else, the ability will not be unlocked.
  • Jean, on the other hand, is usable earlier; she only needs to be at Ascension Phase 3 for her ability Wind Companion to be unlocked.
  • Paladin-type characters like Bennett or Noelle are not recommended to be used for purely healing unless you have them at a level significantly higher than the difficulty of the domain itself. Using Bennett's burst applies Pyro to the user, which can result in Overloaded reactions if hit by Childe.

Shield characters are helpful to reduce damage and avoid getting one-shotted by some of Childe's later attacks. Zhongli's Elemental Skill Dominus Lapidis can be used to create a shield, or in times of crisis, create a platform to stand up on. Similarly, the Geo Traveler's Starfell Sword can also create a platform. Albedo can create platforms as well with his skill Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma. This will not help with certain attacks and Childe may destroy these platforms, so use them cautiously.

Venti and Sucrose can be used here to mix together the elements of everyone else in your team; although keep in mind that they are best used as support, not direct attackers, as they are extremely fragile without high levelling, more than nearly every other character in the game. It is recommended you focus on staying out of the range of Childe as much as possible while playing with them.

Mona moves fast enough to avoid most of Childe's attacks thanks to her Alternate Sprint talent Illusory Torrent, but its increased Stamina consumption also makes using her risky. As with most Catalyst users, she's also very squishy without good Artifacts.

Razor's Elemental Burst, Lightning Fang, grants himself an 80% Electro RES buff. This comes in very useful for Childe's second and third phases, and, if timed properly, its i- rames can help you nullify damage from Ultima: Dark Leap or its enhanced form. Keep in mind Childe resists Electro damage, so you could be in for a long fight. Similarly, Beidou's Tidecaller and Stormbreaker abilities are able to absorb Electro damage efficiently, as her shield absorbs Electro damage 250% better than any other element. These two characters are extremely good at maintaining a defense against Childe, but if you decide to use either of them, keep in mind that you are in for a very, very long battle, as Childe resists Electro damage. The artifact sets Thundersoother and Thundering Fury are good for them; explained below in Keqing's section.

Keqing is useful here for her consistent damage and skill Stellar Restoration, as she can down Childe's health quickly in his first stage. Despite this, Childe resists Electro damage in his second and third phases, so the Thundersoother artifact set is highly recommended if you choose to use her; as it will be useful for his second and third phases by increasing Electro resistance by 40% and buffing damage towards enemies inflicted with Electro. Keep in mind that without this set on her, Childe will massively resist all damage Keqing could possibly do in his second and third phase. Alternatively, you could use the Thundering Fury artifact set, which will likely create an intense synergy with the other players/characters on the field.

Bow users can be useful against Childe as they can attack him at a safe range. Most bow characters have extremely good Elemental Skills and Elemental Burst talents, so use those instead of relying on their actual bows. If you do use the bows, then it's a better idea to rely on auto-aim, as Childe has no weak points, and moves around far too fast for the average person to follow.

Relying on 5 Star Characters is always a good idea, and should not be left out unless they are at a very low level. On a similar note, Bennett is also useful here, as his Elemental Burst Fantastic Voyage applies the Pyro effect to your characters, which although situational, is good, and improves the team's overall attack power; but that becomes redundant as soon as Childe leaves the radius of effect, so make the most of the time you have.

Dialogue

(Upon entering the Golden House)
Paimon: Wow... This is the Golden House?
Paimon: It looked impressive enough from the outside... But who would've guessed that it was even fancier on the inside... and so full of Mora!!!
Paimon: This is where all of Teyvat's Mora is minted, right? In that case, maybe they won't notice if a few Mora go missing...
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg Touch a single Mora and we're done for!
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg If it were that easy, this place would have been emptied long ago.
Paimon: Ooh, so it's a trap. Tricky, tricky... Good thing Paimon's got you here!
Paimon: But even if we can't take any, we can still have a closer look, right?
Paimon: Or better yet, take a nap on top of a mountain of Mora! It's like a dream come true!
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg We'd better check on the Exuvia first.
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg Something feels amiss here.
Paimon: Oh, right! Back to business.
Paimon: It's quiet... Too quiet. Surely someone's gotta be guarding something as important as the Exuvia.
Paimon: Huh!? (Traveler), look! What happened here?
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg The Millelith...
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg They've been knocked unconscious!
Paimon: Uh-oh, Paimon smells trouble!
Paimon: Quick! We have to go make sure that the Exuvia is alright.
(Upon approaching the Exuvia)
???: You've already fulfilled your task as guides, so why do you still linger here? Haven't you already seen enough trouble for today?
Paimon: Huh? Who's there?
Childe: If you were Fatui, I imagine that you would be entitled to a generous reward from the Tsaritsa herself.
Childe: But now, you're nothing but dross — and you're in my way.
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg How did you find out it was here?
Childe: Hmm, where should I start? Well, I've never been one to beat around the bush, you know. But who could have possibly guessed that the God of Geo would mysteriously perish the very moment I arrived in Liyue, and that the Exuvia would subsequently be hidden away?
Childe: If it weren't for that lovely little Rite of Parting ceremony you put together, it would have taken me a whole lot longer to get the information I needed.
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg Looks like I was just in time, then.
Childe: Hah! Although I'm deeply grateful to you that I was able to effortlessly find this secret location...
Childe: Don't you think that trying to stop me now would just be wasted effort?
Childe: Stopping the Mora mints, hiding away the Exuvia... Hahaha, the Qixing are really pulling out all the stops this time...
Paimon: So you've been planning to take the Gnosis from inside the Exuvia all along!?
Childe: As one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, it's my duty to see the will of the Tsaritsa fulfilled.
Childe: She will get that which she desires.
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg Not if I have anything to say about it.
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg I won't allow you to get near the Exuvia.
Childe: Hah! I'm not asking for your blessing, and there's nothing you can do to stop me anyway.
Childe: The time for discussion and diplomacy has already passed. I mean, if it were up to me, I would have skipped that stage to begin with... but I'm willing to do as the Tsaritsa deems fit.
Childe: Either way — we now come to my favorite part. A simple pleasure, and one that I am oh-so-delighted to be sharing with you...
Childe: The battle.
Paimon: Battle? So you're the type that goes looking for trouble, huh?
Childe: Haha, you could say that.
Childe: When Signora offended the deities outside the Cathedral in Mondstadt, she swiftly left the scene once her mission was accomplished.
Childe: Instead of confronting you directly, she chose to rely on the snow and ice to make her escape. She wouldn't want the Knights to come running towards the sound of battle, now, would she?
Childe: When she faces a worthy opponent, she will prioritize her mission, weigh the outcomes, and consider the consequences of her actions...
Childe: But as for me, the greatest pleasure of being a Harbinger lies in crossing blades with strong opponents.
Paimon: We won't let what happened in Mondstadt ever happen again!
Childe: Oh? So you intend to fight me? Good. I won't kill you, Traveler. I'll just play along — to feel the thrill of battle![Note 1]
Childe: Besides, you could never defeat me. Not even in your wildest dreams. But hey, try to relish the fight anyway. Because if you ask me... without that, what else is there?
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg I could never defeat you!? You're completely delusional.
Childe: Ahahahaha!
Childe: Fighting talk, I love it! Now, let's see you live up to it.

(The battle begins)
Childe: This chance is hard to come by, so show me all you've got.
Childe: So very few ever get the chance to square off with a Fatui Harbinger.
Childe: So come now, amuse me... and don't you dare disappoint.
(Upon the start of the second phase)
Childe: Good! No wonder Signora was so wary of you.
Childe: Well, that just means I can go all out! Brace yourselves, this is about to get tough...
Childe: Now, show me what you can do against the might of a Harbinger.

(Upon defeating his second phase, a cinematic begins)
Childe: Not bad. Your swordsmanship is quite impressive.
Childe: But, that's about as far as you'll get.
(While blocking Childe's attack with an Anemo gust, the Traveler uses a Geo attack to catch him off-guard. When the dust settles, however, Childe is nowhere to be found... Only to reveal himself in front of the Exuvia)
Childe: Haha...
Childe: Didn't think you had that card hidden up your sleeve...
Paimon: You were just playing us to get close to the Exuvia!
Childe: Oh, quiet down. Stop acting like some wide-eyed recruit.
Childe: You've seen this world. You of all people should know...
Childe: This should have been expected.
(Childe reaches into the Exuvia)
Childe: Well then, I'll be taking Morax's Gnosis now!
Childe: ...Huh?
(He comes out empty-handed)
Childe: Hahaha... I see. Well, this is most unexpected.
Childe: You... You beat me to it, didn't you?
(Childe undergoes a transformation)
Tartaglia - Childe - The Eleventh of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers
Childe: Not bad!
Childe: But this is going to cost you!
(Childe smashes the floor, Paimon and the Traveler fall through)
Paimon: Aaaah!!!
(Childe follows to the lower floor)

(The battle continues)
Childe: You got to the Gnosis ahead of me, didn't you!?
Childe: Did you simply move faster? Or... did you leak the information regarding the Golden House to me on purpose?
Childe: No matter. Hand the Gnosis over. Now. Don't make me take it from you.
Paimon: W—We didn't take it!

(Upon defeat)
Childe: *panting*
Paimon: Look! Childe's back to normal again.
Childe: Ugh, well then... time to cool off.
Childe: It seems the burden of the Foul Legacy Transformation was too great for my body. I lacked the opportunity to think this through...
Childe: And now that I consider the matter more carefully, you never had any chance of beating me to the Gnosis.
Childe: You had no connection to the Gnosis, no matter where it had been taken.
Paimon: That's right! We tried to tell you we didn't take it!
Childe: Your show of ability today far surpasses that of Signora's initial assessment of you in Mondstadt. Tell me, how could that be?
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg (Because I'm collecting the powers of the seven elements...)
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg (Because I'm gradually restoring my former powers...)
Childe: You already know the answer, don't you? I can see it in your eyes.
Childe: But if that is a secret you wish to keep, I guess I'll just have to curb my curiosity.
Childe: The battle has already left me satisfied.
Childe: Anyone who strives as I do to grow stronger shall be called a friend, even if our friendship can only be shown in battle against one another.
Paimon: Pretty sure that's not the normal way to make friends.
Childe: Unfortunately, I must bring this amiable conversation to an end. My quest still beckons.
Childe: Given the Gnosis wasn't taken by anyone, then we must look once again to the beginning. Perhaps it was never in the Exuvia to begin with.
Childe: In fact, it might be that the Exuvia was just a diversion of sorts.
Paimon: What? So you mean that...
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg Rex Lapis still lives?
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg The corpse was fake?
Childe: Yes, it appears so. Interesting to say the least...
Childe: It seems that the guardian deity of the capital of commerce is also well-versed in the little maneuvers beyond the boundaries of contracts.
Childe: As such, we must now look to our backup plan.
Paimon: Backup plan?
Childe: I had hoped it would never come to this, for the weak will be swept away in the process.
Childe: The truth is, the world belongs to those who pursue strength. I seldom willingly involve myself with the weak.
Childe: Unfortunately, we cannot be picky about our methods as Fatui Harbingers. Children must all learn to eat their vegetables sometime.
Paimon: So, what are you planning to do?
Childe: I will awaken the god that lies dormant beneath Guyun Stone Forest.
Paimon: A god!?
Childe: Osial, Overlord of the Vortex, who was defeated by Morax the Geo Archon in the Archon War, and who has remained pinned beneath the waves by the Geo Archon's stone spears ever since.
Childe: If such an ancient god were to be unleashed upon Liyue Harbor, defenseless without the protection of its deity...
Childe: Do you think the cunning Rex Lapis would just stand aloof and watch the ensuing destruction?
Paimon: But... the Archon War ended two thousand years ago! How could an ancient god appear in a world now overseen by The Seven?
(Childe summons a swarm of Sigils of Permission, which circle around him)
Childe: Simple! I've already prepared the means to awaken it.
Paimon: Hey! Those are Sigils of Permission!
Paimon: Oh, Paimon remembers now! The Fatui have been researching them...
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg I saw your research with my own eyes.
Icon Dialogue Talk.svg You've been trying to duplicate them.
Childe: Indeed. The one that was given to you was just a by-product of our research.
Childe: With the power of so many Sigils of Permission concentrated in one place, along with that which was bestowed upon me as a Harbinger by our Tsaritsa... Breaking the subduing might of the Geo Archon's spears for a time should be no obstacle.
Childe: Using the powers of ancient gods in such a situation fails to interest me and is largely against my principles.
Childe: But knowing that such an action will not only force the Geo Archon to show its hand, but you as well... That makes matters a little more intriguing.

(A cinematic begins)
(A storm begins and Osial is released)
Childe: Hahahahaha! Let's see — will the nation that has lost its deity be swallowed up by an ancient malice once more?
Childe: If you wish to drown together with the people of Liyue
Childe: You're free to stay and enjoy the show!
(Childe flies out, Paimon and the Traveler follow)
Paimon: Huh? He—He's already gone!
Paimon: That guy is fast...
Paimon: Wha—What's going on!?
(The Jade Chamber flies by, towards the storm)
(Continue to Turning Point)
