  • The Japanese and Chinese names of the constellation roughly translate to Waves' Rising on the Sea of Clouds (Japanese: 雲海の波立ち Unkai no Namidachi; Chinese: 波起云海 Bō Qǐ Yúnhǎi).
    • It is roughly an excerpt of a Japanese poem from Book 7, Poem 1068 of Man'youshuu (compiled in 759).[1] The work was composed by Kakinomoto no Hitomaro (circa 660–724), one of the two early Japanese poets who are called the Uta no Hijiri ("Poetry Saint").
    • The full form of the poem is (Old Japanese: 天の海に 雲の波立ち 月の舟 星の林に 漕ぎ隠る見ゆ ame nə myi ni / kumo nə namyi tati / tukwi nə pune / posi nə payasi ni / koNgyi kakuru myiyu), which can be prosaically translated as "The waves of clouds rise on the sea of the heaven, and the boat of the moon is seen to sail into the grove of stars."
