Starsplinter Iron is a Quest Item obtained during the Archon Quest Bygones Times Like Dust Passing in Interlude Chapter: Act I - The Crane Returns on the Wind. Four copies of this item are obtainable, however only two are required to proceed the quest.

All Starsplinter Iron ores can be found at the mountain foot nearby the Sea of Clouds' southwestern-most Teleport Waypoint, within the radius marked during the "Bygones Times Like Dust Passing" quest.

- When in proximity to this item, Visions will glow a pulsating yellow. The only exceptions to this rule are Venti and Zhongli, as their Visions are not real functional ones.
- Characters who do not wear any vision, such as the Traveler, Raiden Shogun, Nahida, and Neuvillette have no substitute visual cue.
- In Version 4.1, Neuvillette's collar gem used to react to Starsplinter Iron in the same way a Vision would. This was however confirmed to be a bug and fixed in Version 4.2.
