It is possible to obtain all three Data Storage Cassettes before starting this quest.
The Underground Research Center is a Strong Kuuvahki Environment.
Completing this quest awards the Wonders of the World achievement Tempus Fugit, Pecunia Fugit.
After the end of the quest, the white Weasel Thief can be found outside Speranza.

Quest Description

The Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau clearly has many more secrets...

(Collect a Data Storage Cassette before step 6, optional): Paimon: What's this? It looks like something to record data with...

(Enter the door): Paimon: Huh? We can get in through here? Paimon thought a place full of secrets would be more heavily guarded than this!

(Descend the elevator shaft): Paimon: Whoa! This is way down under the ground!

(Approach the barrier): Paimon: Tch... Paimon knew it'd be sealed shut!; Paimon: Now Paimon's even more curious... What kind of facility is this? If only we could get inside and take a look...

(Approach the moving barrier): Paimon: Traps!? But how come there's no alarm going off?; Paimon: Don't tell Paimon the staff have to figure their way through all this, too? That's downright cruel...

(After defeating the Cutting Edge All-Purpose Storm Landcruiser)

Paimon: Hmm... looks like this door won't open. Paimon's really curious about what's on the other side...

It's probably nothing important.

Paimon: Considering where it is, this doesn't seem like the kind of place where anything important would be...

There must be an evil experiment going on inside...

Paimon: E—Evil experiment... If that's the case, the security here is way too lax!

Paimon: Now we've really gotta take a look inside! Otherwise, it'll sit in Paimon's head like having a belly full of Nod-Krai Hot Dogs that just won't go down!

Paimon: The door might be locked, but maybe there's another way in.

(Take the elevator down): Paimon: We have to go even deeper? How does anyone put up with working in a place with no sunlight?; Paimon: Hmm, maybe that's the point. If they never see the sun, they won't know when it's time to clock out! How horrible!

(Enter the research lab)

Paimon: So many jars! And inside them... could it be kuuvahki?

Paimon: What are the Fatui doing, placing these things so deep underground?

So they can use them, of course...

Paimon: Obviously, Paimon knows that! But what are they using them for? Presumably, it's not for bathing...

It must be some kind of evil experiment!

Paimon: Well, we all know the Fatui are pretty evil! But Paimon wants to know the details!

Paimon: (‍‍), let's investigate around here first. Maybe we'll uncover some clues.

(Investigate the jar in the center): Strange Jar: (I wonder what's inside...)

Due to the recent increase in suspicious activities around the Design Bureau, Command has decided to raise the alert level effective immediately to ensure the security of military secrets and personnel safety.
All sentry posts and patrols are to remain on high alert and increase surveillance around the Design Bureau's perimeter and non-core areas. Any unauthorized approach or entry into the restricted zone shall be treated as hostile behavior, and the necessary measures shall be taken without delay.

Research Records

Experiment Objective:
To test the stability of the new barrier generator when generating protective barriers in various settings.

Experiment Location: Refer to illustration.

Current Status:
Kuuvahki energy-harnessing mechanism successfully established. The feasibility of high-density energy barrier generation has been experimentally verified. With current technology, barrier generators can stably produce energy barriers in various shapes, including spherical configurations.
Prolonged, high-intensity generator operation can cause overheating and material fatigue. This not only reduces the device's lifespan but may also result in minor energy leakage. Although currently minimal, the long-term effects are uncertain and could present potential risks. Continued monitoring and attention are advisable.
Data must be collected from multiple sources for aggregated analysis to gain further insight.

Paimon: Looks like some sort of research records?

Paimon: It looks like they really were doing experiments here, but this isn't the only place. There are three more sites up on the surface.

(If the player has not obtained all three Data Storage Cassettes)

Paimon: They're collecting data from those sites and then sending it down here for analysis. Hey, (‍‍), what if we made off with all their data?

Paimon: Oh, actually, Paimon's kinda curious about what they found out. How about... how about we collect the data from all three sites, check the results, and then take everything with us!?

(If the player has obtained all three Data Storage Cassettes)

Paimon: Huh? Wait a minute, was that stuff we picked up earlier the data the Fatui were trying to retrieve?

Paimon: How about... how about we input all the data, check the results, and then take everything with us?

Why do we need to take the results?

Paimon: Duh! So the Fatui don't get their hands on them!

Feels like it'd be simpler to just destroy everything...

Paimon: Th—That'd cause way too much of a scene, wouldn't it? Let's not go overboard here and create a bunch of needless noise...

Paimon: Besides, aren't you the least bit curious about the results, (‍‍)? Come on, let's give it a try!

(After obtaining all three Data Storage Cassettes): Paimon: Alright, that's all three sets of data! Let's head back to the underground lab!

(Enter the research lab): Paimon: (‍Traveler‍), let's input the data!

(Interact with the computer)

Paimon: We're locked in! This has to be another trap. How are we supposed to get out...?

(A group of Fatui enter)

Kholodov: The device has been activated? Does that mean...

Kholodov: Let's see which filthy rat has snuck in this time... You!? You're the criminals who ruined the experiment site! And now you dare come here!?

Paimon: (‍‍), Paimon doesn't feel like a beating right now! Quick, do something about that barrier!

(Destroy the barrier): Kholodov: What?! That's impossible!

(After defeating Kholodov)

Paimon: We finally got rid of them — huh? Why isn't the machine showing anything? Don't tell me it got broken during the fight... Or did the Fatui shut it down?

Paimon: Ugh, all that and we still didn't get to see the results...

???: ...

(A white Weasel Thief watches from a distance)

Paimon: ...(‍‍), did you hear that strange sound just now? P—Paimon thinks it came from that way...

(Interact with the marked location)

Paimon: ...Wow! Is that a white Weasel Thief? Paimon's never seen one that white before!

White Weasel Thief: ...

(The Weasel Thief suddenly dashes straight for Paimon, to her shock.)

Paimon: P—Paimon's Mora! Stop right there, you thief!

Unable to catch up, you watch helplessly as the white Weasel Thief runs away...

Paimon: Ugh, it zipped away just like that...

Good thing I didn't lose anything.

Paimon: But Paimon did! Paimon's secret stash. Waaah... If Paimon ever runs into that Weasel Thief again, Paimon's gonna make it pay back double!

Post-Quest Dialogue[]

The white Weasel Thief can be found at Speranza, surrounded by the kids working there.

(Talk to the white Weasel Thief, Maisie, Mikko, or Jurva): Maisie: I've never seen a Weasel Thief this white before. Do you think it might be ill...?; Mikko: It was full of energy just now — it even tried to snatch some food from Jurva. It doesn't seem sick to me!; Jurva: Maybe it's a rare species? Linnea might know.; Paimon: Whoa! It's the Mora thief who emptied Paimon's secret stash!; The Weasel Thief tries to run away, but the three kids are lightning fast. They pin it down, and after a short struggle, it gives up. You take the chance to explain what happened...; Mikko: So this isn't the first time it's done this? In that case, we've gotta teach it a lesson! Do something wrong, and you get punished. That's only fair, right?; Maisie: But... It's just an animal. It doesn't understand what's right and wrong...; As long as it gives Paimon her Mora back, that's enough for me.; Even animals need to learn how cruel the world can be...; Jurva: Anyway, let's get Paimon her Mora back first. It's not like the weasel can spend it, so it should all still be there.; Paimon: Yay! Hehe, Paimon's secret stash is back in business!; Maisie: I wish we could keep it. That way, when Helka comes back, we can show her a rare Weasel Thief!; Mikko: Huh? But it's not like we can put it to work... Stealing doesn't count!
