[[Category:Liyue Adepti]]

Pervases (Chinese: 铜雀 Tóngquè; zh_tn: copper bird) was one of the Yaksha who perished over a thousand years ago. He makes an appearance in Alatus Chapter Act I, at a run-down temple for the adepti near the foot on Mt. Tianheng.

Profile

Introduction

By wave and storm I hunt for fish, by wind and snow I slay evil...

—Pervases' catchphrase

Pervases was a junior in the Yaksha order of adepti, but perished in the fight against the fallen gods. His soul has lingered on in the adeptus temple, and he recently collected a censer and seven lamps to perform Mortal Lingering, an adepti technique to create an illusory body.

His favorite food was Grilled Ticker Fish, which was apparently a favorite among many adepti.[2]

Personality

Pervases, much like the other adepti, speaks in a distinct, old-fashioned way. However, he is not haughty like the adepti found at Jueyun Karst, but is rather compassionate. He talks about how, even though he laid down his life for Liyue, it still does not seem to amount to anything compared to what Xiao has gone through. He says that death seemed like a cowardly escape from the pain Xiao has to endure.

He compares Xiao to a senior and has great respect for him, telling the Traveler to send his regards to Xiao.

Story

It is unknown when or how Pervases came to serve Rex Lapis, or his history before becoming a Yaksha, but the archon personally gave him the name "Pervases," Sometime after the Archon War, during the never-ending fight against the grudges of defeated gods, Pervases was slain. However, his spirit managed to linger on, dwelling within the statue of a crane.

Over a thousand years later, on the anniversary of his death, the Traveler and Paimon run into him while seeking out a censer and the seven-star lamps so Xiao can teach them to perform the Dream Trawler ritual and punish Starsnatcher for his treachery. He senses Xiao's aura on them — and the burden of karma that he bears. He permits them to take the items they need, despite knowing that this would dispel the Mortal Lingering ritual he performed. After telling them the truth about himself, and leaving a message to deliver to Xiao, his spirit grows dormant again.
