Normal Boss challenges contain enemies much stronger than Elite Enemies, but also provide better rewards for defeating them.
Most Normal Bosses are placed near a Teleport Waypoint, though some are further than others. Some Normal Bosses may require the player to progress to a certain point in a World Quest or complete a fairly simple puzzle in order to access them for the first time. Most Normal Bosses consist of a single main enemy, but a few fights consist of several enemies, such as the Coral Defenders and the Icewind Suite.
A Normal Boss is usually idle in the center of their arena and will not react to the player unless they get too close or attack it. Some bosses may not be present in the arena, instead having an environmental effect which requires the player to get close to it in order to trigger the fight. The lone exception is the Icewind Suite, which requires players to talk to Maillardet in order to initiate the fight.
Normal Bosses are more resistant to crowd control effects such as displacement, have significantly higher Interruption Resistance and are immune to freeze caused by Frozen, barring some mechanics that the Solitary Suanni uses.
Unlike Elite Enemies, once they have been defeated a Trounce Blossom will spawn in the area, and players can use ![]()

Companionship EXP. Each Normal Boss has a unique Character Level-Up Material, which is required to ascend characters. They also drop a small array of 3, 4 and 5-star artifacts, depending on the player's World Level.
After claiming rewards from the Trounce Blossom, the boss will respawn in roughly 5 seconds, to give the player some time to prepare if necessary. If the rewards from the blossom are not claimed, the boss will not respawn unless the player teleports out of the area.
