Normal Attack is the name of both a type of attack and a Talent for characters. Despite the shared name, "Normal Attack" typically refers to the type of attack rather than the Talent.

The Normal Attack Talent includes Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Plunging Attacks. Each character comes with their Normal Attack Talent unlocked.

Normal Attacks as a type of attack are colloquially known as Auto Attack and are typically a series of 3–6 strikes. Despite the colloquial name, they are not executed automatically and require input via the Normal Attack keybind or button.

Catalyst characters deal Elemental DMG with all their attacks (Normal, Charged, and Plunging), while bow characters can only deal Elemental DMG with their Charged Attack.

All other characters deal Physical DMG. Some Talents can change the Physical DMG to Elemental DMG via elemental infusions or conversions.

Charged Attacks[]

Charged Attacks are performed by holding the Normal Attack button. These attacks are usually stronger, but take slightly longer to perform and typically consume Stamina. Bow characters are an exception; Stamina is not consumed in Aimed Shot mode and charging up an attack is only needed to make it deal Elemental Damage.

Plunging Attacks[]

Plunging Attacks are performed by pressing the Normal Attack button while airborne. A standard jump on a generally flat surface typically does not give enough altitude to perform such an attack, so height support is needed to achieve this.

Using a Plunge Attack from a great altitude can drastically reduce or even negate the amount of Fall Damage taken. In certain circumstances, such as being knocked back by an enemy or being forced to walk off a ledge after going Out of Bounds, Plunge Attacks cannot be used while falling.

Charged Attack Empowerment: Legal Evaluation
While charging up, Neuvillette will gather the power of water, forming it into a Seal of Arbitration. In this state, Neuvillette can move and change facing, and also absorb any Sourcewater Droplets in a certain AoE.
Every Droplet he absorbs will increase the formation speed of the Seal, and will heal Neuvillette.
When the charging is stopped, if the Symbol has yet to be formed, then a Charged Attack will be unleashed. If it has been formed, then a Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment will be unleashed.

Charged Attack
Consumes a fixed amount of Stamina to attack opponents with a rupturing blast of water, dealing AoE Hydro DMG.

Charged Attack: Equitable Judgment
Unleashes surging torrents, dealing continuous AoE Hydro DMG to all opponents in a straight-line area in front of him.
Equitable Judgment will not consume any Stamina and lasts 3s.
If Neuvillette's HP is above 50%, he will continuously lose HP while using this attack.

Plunging Attack
Gathering the might of Hydro, Neuvillette plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all opponents in his path. Deals AoE Hydro DMG upon impact with the ground.

  • Charge Level 1: Fires off a Pyro-infused arrow, dealing Pyro DMG.
  • Charge Level 2: Fires off a Prop Arrow that deals Pyro DMG, and upon hit, it will summon a Grin-Malkin Hat.
When firing the Prop Arrow, and when Lyney has more than 60% HP, he will consume a portion of his HP to obtain 1 Prop Surplus stack. Max 5 stacks. The effect will be removed after the character spends 30s out of combat.
The lowest Lyney can drop to through this method is 60% of his Max HP.

Grin-Malkin Hat
  • Can taunt nearby opponents and attract their attacks. Each opponent can only be taunted by the Hat once every 5s.
  • The Hat will inherit a percentage of Lyney's Max HP.
  • If destroyed, or if its duration expires, it will fire off a Pyrotechnic Strike at 1 nearby opponent, dealing Pyro DMG.
Only 1 Hat can exist at any given time.

Arkhe: Pneuma
At certain intervals, the Prop Arrow will cause a Spiritbreath Thorn to descend upon its hit location, dealing Pneuma-aligned Pyro DMG.

Riptide
Opponents affected by Riptide will suffer from AoE Hydro DMG effects when attacked by Tartaglia in various ways. DMG dealt in this way is considered Normal Attack DMG.
  • Riptide Flash: A fully-charged Aimed Shot that hits an opponent affected by Riptide deals consecutive bouts of AoE DMG. Can occur once every 0.7s.
  • Riptide Burst: Defeating an opponent affected by Riptide creates a Hydro burst that inflicts the Riptide status on nearby opponents hit.

Fires off a shower of arrows in mid-air before falling and striking the ground, dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
When Tartaglia is in Foul Legacy: Raging Tide's Melee Stance, he cannot perform a plunging attack.

When holding to perform a Charged Attack, Itto unleashes a series of Arataki Kesagiri slashes without consuming Stamina. Instead, each Arataki Kesagiri slash consumes 1 stack of Superlative Superstrength. When the final stack is consumed, Itto delivers a powerful final slash.
If no stacks of Superlative Superstrength are available, Itto will perform a single Saichimonji Slash.

"Masque of the Red Death" state
When Arlecchino has a Bond of Life equal to or greater than 30% of her Max HP, she will enter the "Masque of the Red Death" state: Her Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks will be converted to deal Pyro DMG. This cannot overridden.
When in the "Masque of the Red Death" state, Arlecchino's Normal Attacks will deal extra DMG to opponents on hit that scales off her ATK multiplied by a certain ratio of her current Bond of Life percentage. This will consume 7.5% of said current Bond of Life.
Her Bond of Life can be consumed this way every 0.03s. When her Bond of Life is consumed in this manner, All Is Ash's CD will decrease by 0.8s.
