The Muratans were a group of Natlanese immigrants to Mondstadt.[Note 1] A split of the seventh tribe of Natlan exiled as the result of a civil war, the Muratans were those who accepted their exile, wandering the land for generations[1][2] before coming to settle in Mondstadt. At the time of Vennessa's revolt against the Mondstadt Aristocracy, the Muratans had already long since settled in Mondstadt, even forgetting their heritage and the term "Muratan".[3] Those who instead refused to leave Natlan were eventually allowed to settle far from the other tribes at Tenochtzitoc, where the Easybreeze Holiday Resort now exists; this tribe also came to be known as the Tenochtzitoc.[4] Their people were known as warriors who wielded the power of Anemo. The Tenochtzitoc lived in neglect for millennia until the Cataclysm, during which all save Tenoch died at the hands of the Bakunawa.[5] Tenoch would eventually meet his end as a sacrifice for Sanhaj Kompore's border spell to quell the Bakunawa in the Mare Jivari.[6]

Notes[]

  1. The word "Muratan" has been used at various times to refer to both the members of the seventh tribe who left Natlan, the seventh tribe, and Natlanese people as a whole; this page uses it in alignment with The Last Survivor of Tenochtzitoc, the most recent content that refers to the Muratans.
