The Moon-Prayer Night, also known as Kuunrukous,[1] is a festival in Nod-Krai held on the night when the moon is closest to Teyvat.

A Moon-Prayer Night festival takes place during the Archon Quest The Night the Moon Returns Home in Song of the Welkin Moon: Act VI - Melting Moonlight in the Morning Mist.

Overview[]

Because of the moon's close proximity, kuuvahki reaches its peak, which leads to changes in the Verdant Crest and Moon-Prayer Blossoms. These changes are considered blessed omens by the Nod-Krainians.[2]

The timing of Moon-Prayer Night is not known in advance. A rough estimate is made, and then the changes in the Verdant Crests and Moon-Prayer Blossoms are awaited. The wait itself is a fun feature of the festival.

The Frostmoon Scions first celebrated the festival, and it has been a long-held tradition in Nod-Krai ever since. In the past, the Frostmoon Scions wore Moon-Prayer Blossoms and celebrated the birth of the Moon Goddess with song and dance. They would also prepare food and handicrafts and gift them to others. Today, they hang Moonveils from buildings in Nasha Town to create a misty effect when looking at the night sky through them.[2]

Over time, Moon-Prayer Night became Nod-Krai's liveliest festival. Nowadays, it's more of a local custom. Most people see the festival as an opportunity to do business and do not concern themselves with its religious significance.

Due to the weakening of the border of Teyvat and the penetration of Abyssal energies, certain phantoms of the past appear throughout Nod-Krai during the days before and after the festival.[2]
