Kuuvahki is a unique elemental force found only in Nod-Krai — or rather, a pure, primordial form of elemental energy. It is connected to the Three Moons of Teyvat. In Nod-Krai, kuuvahki can be used to move objects, set machines in motion, fortify the creatures of the land and even influence the weather and nature.
Overview[]
There are two main types of kuuvahki: Red and blue. They have opposite polarities, which causes them to repel objects of the same color and attract objects of the opposite color. The player can infuse themselves with either type of kuuvahki to enter an "empowered state," allowing them to use their polarity to pick up, throw, and smash certain objects. Special buttons will appear when this is possible.
Some entities and objects are only associated with one polarity ("unipolar"), while others are associated with both ("bipolar"). Bipolar objects have a mixed red-and-blue appearance, and can be attracted or repelled while infused with either polarity.
The player can only use kuuvahki to carry one object at a time. Picking up another or exiting the empowered state will cause the object to drop to the ground. Some kuuvahki-influenced objects will automatically be picked up when the player is within a short range.
When the player accumulates enough kuuvahki energy, they can temporarily transform into a kuuhenki to increase their mobility. Currently, this is only possible when standing near plants affected by kuuvahki.

Lore[]
In essence, Kuuvahki is the power of the Light Realm, and it is the most ancient and primordial form of elemental energy; just like a beam of light that can be split into seven colors, kuuvahki is the original state of light before dispersion takes place. [1]
When the Three Moons shattered during the Funerary Year, their remnants blanketed Nod-Krai, which is why the region has such an abundant amount of pure kuuvahki. Over time, the land and its ecosystem have adapted to the kuuvahki saturating it: many local creatures grow stronger or weaker with fluctuations of kuuvahki in the environment, and some plants can store it. Kuuvahki is strongest when the Frost Moon, the only moon to remain intact, is closest to Teyvat.[1] Kuuvahki holds symbolic importance to the Frostmoon Scions, who call the power the "blessing of the Moon Goddess" — the term "kuuvahki" was coined by Snezhnograd researchers[2] Recent efforts to explore practical uses of kuuvahki, particularly by the Fatui, has significantly increased tensions between them and the Frostmoon Scions.[1]
As with other types of elemental energy, people have different levels of kuuvahki sensitivity. Overexposure can cause negative symptoms, such as frequent nosebleeds,[3] dizziness,[4] headaches, and nausea.[5] Some individuals, such as Kaarina, have "congenital kuuvahki sensitivity," a chronic condition that can cause debilitating symptoms when it flares up.[1] This condition can be treated with a particular medicine, which is highly effective but difficult to obtain. The blood of especially strong-blooded Frostmoon Scions, like Lauma, can also counteract the adverse effects of kuuvahki in ordinary people.[6]
Kuuvahki sensitivity can also be reduced by other means, such as in the case of Czcibor, a person with hypersensitivity to kuuvahki who mysteriously disappeared for a time in Barrowmoss Barrens. When he reappeared, he had no memory of the event, but his kuuvahki sensitivity had decreased to manageable levels.[3]

Plants Affected by Kuuvahki[]
Trivia[]
- Plants affected by kuuvahki will change appearance when approached — most will start glowing, and some will gently spin or lean towards the player
- Kuuvahki can also be used to interact with the kuuvahki-influenced body parts of certain wildlife. This will startle them, but will not kill them.
Etymology[]
- Kuuväki means "moon power" in Finnish, with kuu meaning "moon" and väki "power" or "force". Väki as a word is polysemic with two interrelated meanings and is often used to refer to a impersonal power or a troop. People with strong power are only able to see the effects of väki, so sometimes the word has also been used to refer to their power. In mythology it is comparable to forest elves, who use a supernatural power, and who are often invisible. "Väki" can also transfer to objects or places.[7]
