Khvarena Mayflies are an exploration mechanic found in Girdle of the Sands, Sumeru. They consist of a tree stump with a chest on it and small Khvarena creatures floating around. Investigating one of them causes the three mayflies to fly off and float around in the vicinity while a timer activates. Upon running to the mayflies and catching them all within a limit, the chest will unlock. After collecting the chest, the time challenge of catching mayflies is still available, though without a reward.
