In Search of Lost Time: North is a World Quest in Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering Region, Fontaine.

Start the quest by entering the tower northwest of the New Fontaine Research Institute.

Quest Description

There seem to be some peculiar, tall towers near the Fontaine Research Institute...

(Enter the tower)

Voice from Downstairs: Blast it all! He's gonna annoy us to death! That is, if we haven't been killed already... We should have gone with Captain Malinovskyi!

(If it is the first tower visited)

Paimon: (Listen, (Traveler), there's someone speaking downstairs!)

(If In Search of Lost Time: West or In Search of Lost Time: South has been completed)

Paimon: (Listen, (Traveler), it's the Fatui!)

Paimon: (It seems to be coming from downstairs... Let's move carefully, and go down to have a look!)

(Read the notebook on the table, optional): Notebook: ...These blasted jars... What were they called again? Energy storage devices or something... They've been disappearing without a trace lately. I put one down, then it disappears. I put another one down, and it disappears too...; Notebook: ...I even posted someone to watch over it at night... They disappeared along with the jar...; Notebook: They even left a note too, something along the lines of "working night shifts is a waste of my youth, I might as well go be a research assistant and at least get a decent paycheck..." How baffling...; Notebook: ...I placed the last energy storage device on the first floor. If this one disappears too, then whoever was responsible for patrolling that day is going to have to report it to Shumilov themselves...

(Enter the lowest floor of the tower)

Feronov: What—! Y—You, where did you come from!?

Paimon: Agh! It's the Fatui all right! What are you doing here!?

(If In Search of Lost Time: West or In Search of Lost Time: South has been completed)

Paimon: Hmph! Didn't see that coming, did ya? Did you really think you could just lock the front door and then rest easy?

(After defeating the Fatui): Paimon: Geez, these fellas sure took off fast... Oh well. Let's take a look around here and see if we can find anything to help us reach the top of the tower...

(Interact with the terminal on the entrance floor): Paimon: Yay! Now the way to the top of the tower should be open, let's hurry on up!

(Interact with the Research Terminal)

(If both In Search of Lost Time: West and In Search of Lost Time: South have been completed)

Paimon: What do we have here... Right, looks like it's this lever with "Do NOT touch under any circumstances!" written next to it!

Pull the lever.

You pull the lever.
After some rumbling and shaking, the machine spits out a stack of paper tape...

Paimon: Great! Now we have the monitoring data from both the Pate de Fruit and Crepes Suzette Stations!

Paimon: (Traveler), let's go back to Broglie now!

Paimon: Huh? It's a console just like the one in that other tower from before...

Research Terminal: (There's a memo stuck next to the lever on the right side of the console. In neat and elegant handwriting, it reads, "Do NOT touch under any circumstances!")

Pull the lever.

You pull the lever.
Just like before, the machine spits out a stack of paper tape after a moment of rumbling and shaking...

Paimon: Hmm, it's paper tape, just like before...

Paimon: Whoa! What are you doing, (Traveler)?

You pull the lever without the slightest hesitation.
The entire tower then immediately trembles with a thunderous, ear-splitting rumble. It's as if the sky is crumbling and the earth is splitting...

Then... with a pop, the machine spits out a stack of paper tape right into your hands.
All is quiet once more.

Paimon: Is... this it?
