The 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. She took over the business at a rather young age.In-game character attributes text
It would be best not underestimate someone as whimsical as her. However, should you enjoy surprises, then I believe a visit is in order.
At first glance, Hu Tao appears to be a quirky and cheerful girl. No one would think that she is actually the renowned director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor unless she tells them or they are working with her. She also takes pride in the parlor's storied history and her position as its current director.
Hu Tao enjoys pranking people and despises sitting around and doing nothing, as she wishes to live her life to the fullest. Her eccentric and off the wall personality often leaves people a negative impression of her, especially Qiqi, who states that she has a "punchable face" and should be stored in the fridge. On the contrary, Xiao likes her humor; while he finds it irritating, he also states that it is also interesting.
When handling funerals and last rites, she becomes far more serious and always reminds her employees to never deviate from the client's requests. Due to the importance and traditions of the parlor's duties, she also expresses a distaste towards people treating her or her employees with suspicion whenever they go to work at night.
Despite her negative impressions, she is also shown to be quite intelligent, being suspicious of Zhongli's true identity and knows a fair amount about Liyue's hidden secrets and past. She trusts her friend Zhongli the most. She is quite secretive with sensitive information, as she refuses to disclose it as she claims that the less they know, the safer they are. She also takes pride in the parlor's storied history and her position as its current director, although she dislikes how others treat her and her employees with suspicion when they go out at night to work.
Hu Tao accepts death as a natural part of life and does not hesitate to tell others to enjoy their short lives; while this makes her callous to others, it helps her truly respect her job to help the dead "cross over". For this reason, Hu Tao initially viewed Qiqi's zombie state as unnatural and wished to bury the zombie so that she could pass on properly, but due to the zombie's refusal to, eventually decided to make an exception for her. Likewise, she also loathes those who try to prolong their natural lifespan, such as Baizhu after realizing his intentions to prolong his own life. She also appears to show a lack of interest in her Pyro Vision.
Hu Tao has fair skin and scarlet eyes with flower-shaped pupils. She has long, dark brown hair fading to crimson at the tips. It is divided with a zig-zag parting and tied up into very high pig-tails, hidden and held down by her hat. She wears a dark brown porkpie hat, decorated with red plum blossoms and branches, along with an indigo tassel and a wooden talisman attached to the front.
Hu Tao wears a traditional red shirt with a mandarin collar, a black coat and black shorts with gold accents. Her Pyro Vision is embedded at the back of her coat, along with long rectangular coattails, a black collar and cuffs, and golden brooches attached underneath her coat's collar and waist. She wears a pair of white socks with matching red blossoms along with low heeled dress shoes. Her fingernails are painted black, and she wears multiple rings. Her left hand has rings on the index and middle, while her right has the middle, index and thumb. On her right hand she wears a loose red bracelet, though it is usually hidden by her long sleeves. Her outfit, Plum Blossom Bouquet, is described to be as the daily work clothes of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's director.

|Moment of Bloom/2021-03-02|
- In Hu Tao's CN character trailer, she says that 胡 (Hú) is her family name and 桃 (Táo) is her given name.
- フータオ is actually a standard recognized reading of 胡桃, mostly used to describe the ingredient or food in Chinese cuisine.
- The eumdok of 桃 is 도 (do). The shift from 도 (do) to 두 (du) can be attributed to a corruption. The proper Sino-Korean reading, 호도 (ho-do), still exists as an alternate form of 호두 (ho-du). Some believe 호두 to be a corruption from a Sino-Korean borrowing of 核桃 (haek-do).
