A mysterious "lord" of hilichurls that stalks the snow and fog.
This huge hilichurl is referred to as a "lawa" by its brethren. Its body, honed to the very limit, almost seems to blend into its Cryo-filled environment, and its stoic nobility is like that of the frozen northland rivers.

The Frostarm Lawachurl is a Lawachurl that has grown to gargantuan size from a Mitachurl by garnering Cryo energy from its environment. They are found in Dragonspine.

Strategy

The Frostarm Lawachurl's attacks are quite similar to its Geo counterpart, the Stonehide Lawachurl. It can throw a large Cryo slime in front of it, and create Cryo infused armor that greatly improves both its damage and defense. The shield can be removed with Pyro and explosions from Overloaded reactions.

Unlike the Geo blasts from Stonehide Lawachurl, the Frostarm Lawachurl doesn't have any long range attacks. To compensate, it aggressively charges towards players to deal devastating melee damage. With its charging attack, it instead leaves behind ice crystals that act as landmines for a short period of time, dealing Cryo damage to any player who comes into contact with them. While shielded with its Cryo infused armor, its devastating jump attack can sometimes even knock out characters in a single blow.

Its jump attack also creates an ice floor at where the Frostarm Lawachurl lands, dealing continuous damage over time to players who stay within its area of effect. It is capable of using any of these unique abilities with or without its Cryo enhancement. Knockback or stunning effects are an efficient way to keep the Lawachurl from attacking. Explosions, the Frozen status effect, Jean's Gale Blade, or Zhongli's Planet Befall are a few examples.

  • By itself, the Frostarm Lawachurl has 50% Physical Resistance, 70% Cryo Resistance, and 10% Elemental Resistance to all other elements. This makes using Cryo damage dealers and physical damage dealers a less ideal choice unless their resistance is lowered, for example, via Superconduct.
  • When the Frostarm Lawachurl has its shield, it ignores 80% Physical and Elemental DMG Bonus of the characters.[1]
    • For example, if Venti has 0% Anemo DMG Bonus and deals 1000 Anemo damage to a Frostarm Lawachurl, the final damage on Frostarm Lawachurl will be:
      Final Damage = Base Damage * (1 - Physical or Elemental DMG Bonus Reduction) = 1000 * (1 - 0.8) = 200
      • If Venti has 20% Anemo DMG Bonus and deals 1000 Anemo damage to a Frostarm Lawachurl, the final damage on Frostarm Lawachurl will be:
        Final Damage = 1000 * (1 + 0.2 - 0.8) = 400
    • This special DMG Bonus reduction is only for shielded Frostarm Lawachurls, while shielded Stonehide Lawachurls do not have this ability.

Trivia

  • There are three respawnable Frostarm Lawachurls on Dragonspine - two of them are unnamed and have the title "Ice-Sealed Lawachurl". The one west of the Peak of Vindagnyr Domain is instead called Ukko. The Frostarm Lawachurls in Domains and Spiral Abyss do not have titles.
