Foul Legacy: Raging Tide is Tartaglia's Elemental Skill.

Gameplay Notes[]

  • The cooldown does not start until Melee Stance ends.
  • When Riptide Slash hits at least one enemy, it generates 1 Elemental Particle.
    • This particle generation has a cooldown of 3 seconds. This cooldown is shared with the Riptide Flash particle generation.
  • The Riptide Slash AoE has quadratic scaling against mobs of enemies that are grouped together.
    • That is, suppose there are enemies each affected by Riptide grouped close together. If Tartaglia uses his Elemental Skill to attack the n enemies in the cluster at once, it will trigger Riptide Slash for each enemy.
    • Each Riptide Slash will do local AoE damage hitting surrounding enemies. So there will be Riptide Slashes, each hitting enemies.
    • In total, there will be instances of damage against enemies for each time Tartaglia procs Riptide Slash in melee stance. So for mobs grouped close together (e.g., via Crowd Control abilities of Sucrose, Kazuha, The Viridescent Hunt, etc.), Tartaglia's Riptide Slash DMG will scale quadratically with the number of enemies in the cluster.
  • Tartaglia's Interruption Resistance is increased while in Melee Stance.
  • In Melee stance Plunging Attacks are disabled.
  • The stance switch animations will be skipped if this skill is used while walking or running. However, Stance Switch DMG will still be dealt when switching to Melee Stance.
Passive Effects
  • Passive Talent 2, Sword of Torrents Sword of Torrents: "When Tartaglia is in Foul Legacy: Raging Tide's Melee stance, on dealing a CRIT hit, Normal and Charged Attacks apply the Riptide status effects to opponents."
Artifacts and Weapons Interactions
  • Normal Attack effects apply to Ranged Stance and Melee Stance. Also affects the damage of Riptide Flash and Riptide Burst.
  • Charged Attack effects apply to his Ranged Stance's Aimed Shot and Melee Stance's Charged Attack.
  • Effects that require an arrow to be fired, such as the passives of Amos' Bow and Slingshot, cannot be triggered in Melee Stance.
  • Effects that require hitting weak spots, such as the passive of Prototype Crescent, can be triggered in Melee Stance.
  • Elemental Skill effects apply to the initial Melee Stance change and Riptide Slash.
Cooldown

The cooldown is linear in the time spent (duration) in Melee Stance. The data are retrieved from in-game testing. At Constellation 0, it is represented by the function:

The duration in Melee Stance starts from the moment the Elemental Skill is used. This includes the 1-second cooldown in which Tartaglia cannot return to Ranged Stance without switching to another character.

Constellation Effects
  • Constellation Level 1, Foul Legacy: Tide Withholder Foul Legacy: Tide Withholder: "Decreases the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide by 20%"
  • Constellation Level 3, Abyssal Mayhem: Vortex of Turmoil Abyssal Mayhem: Vortex of Turmoil: Increases this talent's level by 3, up to a maximum of 15.
  • Constellation Level 4, Abyssal Mayhem: Hydrospout Abyssal Mayhem: Hydrospout: "If Tartaglia is in Foul Legacy: Raging Tide's Melee Stance, triggers Riptide Slash against opponents on the field affected by Riptide every 4s, otherwise, triggers Riptide Flash. Riptide Slashes and Riptide Flashes triggered by this Constellation effect are not subject to the time intervals that would typically apply to these two Riptide effects, nor do they have any effect on those time intervals."
  • Constellation Level 6, Havoc: Annihilation Havoc: Annihilation: "When Havoc: Obliteration is cast in Melee Stance, the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide is reset. This effect will only take place once Tartaglia returns to his Ranged Stance."

  • The description for Foul Legacy: Raging Tide was changed.
    • Old description: Unleashes a set of weaponry made of pure water, dealing Hydro DMG to surrounding opponents and entering Melee Stance.
      In this Stance, Tartaglia's Normal and Charged Attacks change as follows:
      Normal Attack: Perform up to 6 consecutive Hydro strikes.
      Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash a cross slash, dealing Hydro DMG.
      Riptide Slash: Hitting an opponent affected by Riptide with a melee attack unleashes a Riptide Slash that deals AoE Hydro DMG. DMG dealt in this way is considered Elemental Skill DMG, and can only occur once every 1.5s.
      After 30s, or when the ability is unleashed again, this skill will end. Tartaglia will return to his Ranged Stance and this ability will enter CD. The longer Tartaglia stays in his Melee Stance, the longer the CD. If the return to a ranged stance occurs automatically after 30s, the CD is even longer.
