  1. Chinese: The phrase 东逝/東逝 dōngshì, "departing eastward" may be a reference to a line from the poem The Immortals by the River (Chinese: 临江仙 Lín Jiāng Xiān) by the Ming dynasty poet Yang Shen. The relevant line reads, 滚滚长江东逝水,浪花淘尽英雄 Gǔngǔn Chángjiāng dōngshì shuǐ, lànghuā tāojìn yīngxióng, "The roiling waters of Yangtze River depart eastward, while heroes are dredged and washed away by its spindrift."
