Version 1.6: Increases the damage caused by Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Swirl, and Shatter above Level 60; increases damage from Elemental Mastery; and increases Base Shield strength from Crystallize based shields.
Data in this article has been updated to reflect values from v1.6 and later.

Elemental Mastery is an attribute that increases how powerful the Elemental Reactions created by your character will be. These reactions are Vaporize, Melt, Overloaded, Superconduct, Electro-Charged, Burning, Shattered, Swirl, and Crystallize. The strength of the reaction scales based on the Elemental Mastery of the character who applies the last element (see Order of Application).

The damage of transformative reactions (Overloaded, Superconduct, Electro-Charged, Shattered, and Swirl) are additional instances of damage and scale with Elemental Mastery and Character Level only.

The damage multiplier gained from Elemental Mastery for amplifying reactions (Vaporize and Melt) is roughly half that of the multiplier for the above reactions.

  • Melt is 2× if triggered by Pyro, 1.5× with Cryo
  • Vaporize is 2× if triggered by Hydro, 1.5× with Pyro

The damage is then multiplied by the EM effect.

The bonus to Crystallize makes the resulting elemental shield more powerful.

Elemental Mastery can be increased by equipping artifacts or weapons that provide a bonus to Elemental Mastery. Additionally, some characters, such as Lisa, gain Elemental Mastery by raising their character level. Other characters, such as Sucrose, can boost their party's Elemental Mastery by triggering their ascension passives.

Elemental Mastery Formula

The higher a character's elemental mastery, the stronger the elemental reactions the character can release. The is calculated depending on the reaction:

  • Increases damage of Vaporize and Melt by X %.
  • Increases damage of Overload, Superconduct, Electro-Charged, Shattered, and Swirl by Y %.
  • Increases damage absorption of shields created by Crystallize by Z %.
  • Where X %, Y %, and Z % are:[1][2]
(Version/1.6 and later)

These values are used in damage or shield health calculations as:

The relative differences from the base level damage caused by Superconduct, Swirl, Electro-Charged, Shattered, and Overloaded are roughly 1 : 1.2 : 2.4 : 3 : 4 respectively (all other factors being equal).[3]
