Chili Con Cloudy is a World Quest in Chenyu Vale: Upper Vale, Liyue.

Start Location[]

Talk to Wenhua in Chenyu Vale: Upper Vale, or defeat the Treasure Hoarders on the hill between the Teleport Waypoints for Chenyu Vale: Upper Vale and Bishui Plain.

You encounter an anxious merchant in a camp out in the wild...
(Talk to Mingli, optional)
Mingli: Hello there. I'm Mingli, the boss's assistant.
Paimon: Why the long face?
Mingli: I'm worried about my boss... He lost yet another Sumpter Beast... We had three in total, but now we're just down to one!
Mingli: Sumpter Beasts are quite expensive, and neither my boss nor I know much about keeping them. We're going to take big losses if we keep going like this.
Mingli: Do you guys think he's getting old and starting to forget things?

Wenhua: Dear passersby, could you please help a poor old man?

(If the player approaches the Treasure Hoarder camp without talking to Wenhua)

Paimon: Whoa, and they're raising that Sumpter Beast? They sure do have time on their hands...
(The Sumpter Beast starts attacking the Treasure Hoarders)

Journal with Poor Penmanship: "Seriously!? Who brought this Sumpter Beast here? It eats the share of three people, and then some! Between you idiots, that Tusheng, and this Sumpter Beast, we might as well discard our old name and call ourselves the Feeding Trough Gang instead!"
Journal with Poor Penmanship: "...Huh. Guess this Tusheng isn't useless after all. He seems to know a thing or three about raising this Sumpter Beast, or I'm a fool. And who knows? Maybe we could put it to good use when moving goods about? A stroke of good fortune if I've ever seen one!"
Journal with Poor Penmanship: "Hah, climbing up to high branches shouldn't be an issue with this ladder. Maybe I should look into swiping a chair too..."
(Go back to Wenhua's camp)
Wenhua: See? Chili's doing great! And on the other hand... Yun's doing so poorly it breaks my heart.
Tusheng: Are you sure your eyes are working right, old man? Isn't it the other way around?

(Talk to Chili Pepper or Wenhua)

Tusheng: *sigh* What am I supposed to do with you? ... Well, we're fresh out of Berries, but we've still got some Sunsettias. Here, I suppose you'll enjoy these too?
Tusheng retrieves a pile of Sunsettias and places them on the ground.
Yunyun: (Yunyun starts to eat...)
Paimon: Look! Chili Pepper's joining in, too! Guess it wants in on those Sunsettias, huh?
Wenhua: Chili! Not you too...
Tusheng: See, I told you so. You're the only one who's enamored with the idea of them liking Jueyun Chilis.

Tusheng: Our superiors said that it was just as well that we had a Sumpter Beast, since we got a big deal going recently and would have to transport some large goods — and that's how we came to keep it at our camp.

Tusheng: Well, how were we supposed to know that someone would be raising Sumpter Beasts out here in the boonies!? If we knew we'd end up facing off with this tough a customer, we'd have returned it to you right away!

  • When combined, the three Sumpter Beasts' names — Jue, Yun, and Chili Pepper — are a reference to Jueyun Chili. This wordplay is used in several languages' renditions of the quest's title.
  • The quest's English title contains two wordplays:
    • "Chili Con Cloudy" is a play on the real-life dish name chili con carne (Spanish: chili with meat).
    • "Chili" and "Cloudy" refer to Chili Pepper and Yun; "Cloudy" comes from the meaning of the Chinese character used in Yun's name, 云 Yún, lit. "Cloud."
