The Wind Blows... | |

Lately, the weather has been clear without much rain, which makes it suitable for an outing. During my spare time, I've traversed the hills and fields and saw trees with golden leaves. Looking at this beautiful scenery, one can not help but think: although spring flowers are beautiful, autumn leaves also have their own beauty. These kinds of sights are quite different from those of my homeland. But the mournful voice of the bird is a pitiful thing. It is accustomed to wandering, but yearns for a permanent harbor. It is only human to gravitate towards light and warmth. Indeed, the morning winds tell me of an auspicious visitor today. I have prepared some tea in advance and would greatly appreciate it if you would stay for dinner, so I could roast a fish for both of us. This is one of my favorite seafood dishes. A little simple and rustic, but I hope it is to your taste. Since the wind tells me of your coming, follow its direction as it holds the key to our "fate".

Our Converging Paths | |

I went to Port Ormos on my travels with the fleet. Although it was a brief stay, I was touched by what I saw and felt. The winds of Sumeru contain a certain rhythm, the spices there are rich and intense, and even the handicraft adds a unique cultural flavor to symmetrical aesthetics. It's hard to resist their charm... I took strolls in mountains during the day and drank to my heart's content in taverns at night. Sometimes, I also talked with travelers about the local customs of different places. I felt very much at ease. I never talked about myself, though. But I believe if you had been there, you would've shared many vivid stories of yours. The thought of it makes me want to see you. I'm gifting you a sprig of flowers, please accept it.

Season of Scarlet Leaves...

The weather is cooling, and the season for the mountainsides to be covered in a sea of red is here. Captain Beidou recently led the crew to Yilong Wharf, where we've been staying. Just to the west, across the vast sea, is Fontaine's Lumidouce Harbor. I remember you mentioned before that you were going to travel to Fontaine, and I know not if you have already left your footprints upon their lands. If it is as I guess, then why don't you raise your gaze and look to the east? I am looking at you too, from across the sea. We are both moving onward on our own journeys and in the long days since our last meeting, the stories and experiences of our travels have become stacked high in our hearts like the great mountains themselves. Should you have any free time, it would be wonderful if you could recount your tales to me.

Share the Golden Autumn...

Roaming as a wanderer, I return to my hometown from time to time, countless emotions sitting in my heart. I've tried capturing moments in photographs or written poems, but nothing compares to being with a dear friend, immersed in the crimson peaks, quietly enjoying the rising and setting of the sun, and the ebb and flow of rain and shine. I'm writing this letter from a pavilion nestled in the mountains, hoping that we might share this golden autumn together, even if for merely a day or a half, or just a few fleeting moments... The beauty before us is such that even a brief pause can bring clarity to the heart. With a serene mindset, be it a wanderer or a traveler, I believe one can journey even further. The autumn wind has arrived once again, bringing a gentle chill in the mornings and evenings. Enclosed are a few pieces of fine cloth - they are not luxurious, but they are the warmest and most comfortable I could offer. The winds have been strong lately, so take care not to catch a chill. Please, worry not about me. As one who drifts like clouds, the flowing melodies brush through my sleeves, and I'll go wherever the wind leads.

When the maple leaves turn red, look to the distant mountains and you will discover the vast scarlet blanket that covers the landscape. Seeing such a beautiful sight, even the footsteps of those traveling around the world would stop and take a moment. Although autumn is a time with many farewells, I believe the fall of the red leaves also symbolizes a reunion with old friends. Just like how you are here before I finished playing this tune.
A gentle breeze always brings melodious sounds, and sometimes, the voices of people I know. I heard your voice, which is why I came early to greet you on deck. "Leaves riding the wind, billowing sails under clouds, dear friends reunite." A haiku that came to mind while I was waiting for you, what do you think?
Seeing as I'm free today, I'm planning to follow in the footsteps of my ancestors by carving some rocks into decorations for the family bonsai. When I come to think of it, since my wanderings began, I've seen many wonderful things throughout my travels. A day must come when crimson leaves will wither and journeys end, yet through these carvings shall such happy memories live on. Well, given your equal passion for traveling, might you care to join me?
"The sea cradles the moon in slumber, and ships ride the waves home." When you've sailed long enough, you'd come to realize that the sea isn't always tempestuous at night. The wind shatters the moon's reflection in the water, carrying soft ripples to whisper in my ear, as if sharing endless secrets... You want to hear what the sea breeze confided in me? Very well, come closer, and I'll whisper it to you. Don't worry, the breeze's still playing with the moon in the water. It won't overhear us. |
