Not in any particular order to be honest. I know you said favourite and least favourite, singular, but out of these three I don't really have an overall preference.
Least favourites:
Childe,
Lyney.
Childe annoys me. His lore is good, so he's not entirely detestable, but character-wise he doesn't do it for me.
Vi will probably murder me in my sleep for this, but Lyney is just ick, I'm sorry. I get that the personality is part of the magician thing but I just can't stand him. And I despise his design.
Varesa! Whether I get her is another story, but she's my first pulling choice. If I get lucky, get her early and have some stuff left over, I'll try getting Xilonen.

Without me really realising it he's become my comfort character. I think about him and he genuinely makes my day that little bit better.
This might sound kind of strange but he gives me the same feeling as, like, a warm blanket does at the end of a long tiring day.
Hard choice.
Tbh nation-wise, ignoring the story, probably Natlan. Every single part of Natlan is gorgeous, the music is amazing, and exploring it actually feels fun and interesting, and not a slog like Mondstadt was.
My runners-up would be Fontaine's underwater and Sumeru. I don't really like Fontaine's overworld, but I love the underwater part. So pretty. Sumeru's just a very nice nation overall.
Inazuma is very pretty in some places (Watatsumi and Narukami Shrines especially), but oh my goodness gracious the amount of things that try to kill you is greater than any other nation I swear. It kind of makes it hard to enjoy at times.
Liyue used to be close to my favourite but it's kinda fallen off now (aside from Chenyu Vale. That's still perfection.)
Mondstadt's just OK. I think I've just spent too much time there by now to really appreciate it like I used to.

For the longest time, I put weapons and artefacts on characters based on how well they fit aEsThEtIcAlLy. Regardless of buffs or stats or what have you. I was all about the fashion (that was probably when I was still in my Shining Nikki phase lmao)
Oh! And I didn't realise that characters could only equip specific weapons and tried to put a White Iron Greatsword on my Lumine.
I also didn't realise you could only have 4 characters in your party, so when I got Noelle and she didn't show up automatically on my party sidebar like the starter team, I was confused af
Suffice to say that I was not an intelligent new player. Do bear in mind that I was ten at the time and this was my first time playing anything as complex as Genshin. But still.
I didn't even realise that you had in-game currency for about a month.
I kept healing Hu Tao with food when I first mained her, not knowing she benefits from having low HP
When I got Ganyu at like 20 pity I was more excited for the Xingqiu I got with her because I had no concept of rarities for characters
I pulled on banners regardless of if I wanted the chars or not. That's how I ended up with Albedo when I actually wanted Nilou, because I pulled on Albedo's banner like a dumb dumb
I like the sparkles. That's all I need lol
Honestly it's kinda cool in Natlan, although it's annoyingly limited outside of the nation.
Also, I don't like having to pull characters specifically to get buffs in spiral abyss/that fucking Tempered Valour thing, especially since I'm free to play.
I do not like Childe, at all
