^^^ Except Arlecchino intentionally builds on Crucabena's bad reputation and the fact that most people know of her as "that girl who killed her way to Harbingerhood" because it gives her an advantage she can exploit. Her enemiea know her as a mindless psycho - she can use that for mind games.

Also, Signora is portrayed as an arrogant, immature brat who thinks she's tough when faced with someone less powerful but completely breaks down into hysterics when someone proves her wrong. Seems scary and powerful at first... But then it's just pathetic. And also she's portrayed as a phycho who kills her own men for no reason and thinks killing innocents is hilarious. She was a villain and died as one.

Capitano is portrayed as the guy who's strong enough to meet an Archon blow-for-blow, is wise enough to change his opinions when proven wrong and is willing to take up arms with a former foe in the face of a bigger threat. He's not meant to be seen as a threat to the player. He's never antogonistic to them - from the very beginning he does his best to make sure they're on the same side to prevent as much loss of life as he can (unlike someone) and only retreats because of Ororon. If he didn't show up, he'd have kept going. He even refuses fighting her again outright when he hears that she's powerless. Unlike someone, who prefers taking on the powerless. He's being portrayed as heroic, not as villainous, therefore why would he be shown as a threat to us at all????

As for why he joined... They have the same enemies. Celestia and the Abyss. He just happens to care more about the life of a whole nation than picking up something shiny for his boss.

@Witherite Armor Agreed, dunno how a post detailing Signora’s references invited those who know scant amounts about her character to mischaracterize her and insult those who actually do understand and enjoy her character. They did a good job making a character equally unlikable to some as she is likable to others, but there’s absolutely no reason to call her mains or anyone else “insane” for doing so.

It is insane to say she did nothing wrong. And to pretend that she's somehow not a bad person when joking about the people she killed.

Like her as much as you want, but the people who are mischaracterizing her are the ones who whitewash her character, not the ones who see her for what she is.

That is precisely the reason why I used the term “scant amounts.”

Killing people, much less enjoying doing so, would be out of character for her considering she never even harmed any people as the CWoF. It is already likely she still has memories of those days considering Arlecchino knew of her past.

She also had a clear look of remorse on her face even discussing the deaths in Inazuma, her tone expressing nothing more than indifference. Anyone who looked beyond words would notice. In-game resources already revealed she wasn’t behind the Fatui’s actions in Inazuma, that was all Pierro and the Kujou Clan, so she wasn’t responsible for anyone’s death. That was all just the traveler and Paimon putting the blame on and provoking her. We know the traveler was acting uncharacteristically antagonistic in this instance, even hypocritical considering they also tried blaming her for imperiling Liyue despite it being Zhongli’s scheme.

She did not willingly accept the duel, she said herself that the traveler was using the law of the land against her. This was likely referring to a refusal to a duel before the throne would lead to immediate execution instead. She even asked the traveler if they were sure this was what they wanted.

Additionally, Childe’s voice line about her was lost in translation, which is just another case of localizers making her seem more villainous than she is. In the original context, he’s referring to himself as never using the power of his Foul Legacy against his subordinates. He just ‘thinks’ Signora would be the type of person to do so, but we already know he has false ideas about other Harbingers considering Pulcinella.

No one’s trying to whitewash her, because there is not much to whitewash. Her only true sin is attacking Venti, which would make multiple other harbingers sinners as well. All people are trying to do is clear up misconceptions about her, because many people exaggerate her villainy and even spread misinformation about her, like now.

I'll concede that she fought the Abyss... 500 years ago. Unfortunately, that Rosalyne is long gone by the present day and she doesn't even remember her past. It's a shame. I like backstory!Signora way more than present!Signora.

Though it does explain the way she is now - her title is "Witch of Embers". It's likely that her personality has been slowly eroding over time along with her powers. Doesn't make it okay, but it does tell us why she is the way she is.

Her "sin" is killing hundreds of people (albeit indirectly). I don't blame her for kicking Venti at all, actually - after all, he held the Gnosis and was therefore her target. Her orders said to bring the Gnosis, so attacking the one who has it is perfectly justified.

I blame her for causing needless deaths. She didn't have to. She wanted the Gnosis, no? She could've avoided all the suffering and gone for the Shogun like she did in the end. The sacrifices were not "necessary". Not for getting the Gnosis, at least.

She has a look of... Nothing. Not really remorse or anything. It's blank. Listen to the tone of her voice instead. It's mocking.

During the duel, she gleefully taunts the Traveler by saying that the fate of the loser is death. She was fine with them dying, just became hysterical when the tables turned.

And this is getting absurd. We've seen what she's like. Again, liking a character doesn't mean justifying what they did. I like Raiden, but I'll fully admit that she has her shortcomings (a lot of them) and that the remorse she showed though genuine, wasn't proper atonement and she needs to work more tp redeem herself. She's on the right track... But imo it'd take at least ten years of fixing her mistakes, honestly.

It's safe to admit you like the bad guys without trying to make them seem heroic. There's one or two genuine Crucabena fans here, I mean, come on. You don't need to whitewash the bad guys.

And we wonder why ppl think the genshin community isnt sane at all...
